paint for boy and girl!

NOT gender neutral. My son and daughter will be sharing a room. I was going to paint the bottom green and the top blue and then put flowers and butterflies near DD's bed. But I think the two solid colors isn't going to look good.

We have white trim and chair rail (will probably put crown molding in). Furniture is dark brown borderline cherry. How would you paint the room?

Re: paint for boy and girl!

  • I'm going to do white trim with bottom half white and top half tan. Although it's gender neutral, I think it will "grow well" with them and also match any changes in bedding I'd like to do. Plus, whenever we decide to sell the house down the road, it will be versatile for someone else.

On another note, I think green and blue would work if you use light shades of both. What about green and white? Green looks good with girl accessories on side and boy accessories on the other side.

  • i agree with the pp except i would do the tan (maybe a soft sandy color) on the bottom. It goes with everything. Because you have boy and girl children, their bed linens, pictures, and toys will provide lots of color already so I would avoid adding two solid colors like blue and green to the room. I think it might be too much. Blue OR green on the bottom half would look nice, but leave the top half white and fill it with pictures and shelves and cute things to hang on the wall.

  • I did red for my nursery and LOVE IT!

or maybe a robin egg blue.
