How did you go about getting a SS number for your child?

    At the hospital, we were given a form to fill out along with the birth certificate form.   We were sent SS cards several weeks later.

    The hospital will do the paperwork while you are still there after giving birth.  All you need to do is sign the papers and you will recieve the card within 12 weeks of giving birth.  I got DS card 3 weeks after he was born.
