NGPR: Hernia experience?

My DH found out yesterday that he has a hernia in his groin... anyone have any experience with this?  He's meeting with the surgeon today at 2:30.  I'm so worried about the surgery.  Any idea how long he'll be out of work?  BTW, he's a PCA (patient care associate) at a local hospital.

    MY DH had it done two years ago, The surgery went really well took not long at all, they used a lazer for it I believe. He was off of work for 8 weeks.?

    My dad just had it done a few months ago, but he had let it get pretty bad. He was in pain and in bed for about a good 2 weeks and had to take it easy for about 6 more.

    I know that if it is still a small hernia, that it is done laproscopically so the recovery should be better.
