Rough Housing?

My dh swings my dd upside down and she loves it.  She's a pretty sturdy kid and he keeps doing it because it makes her shriek and giggle.  We were at mom's for dinner and my mom flipped out about it saying it was damaging her brain and affecting her growth.  I think she's ready to call DCFS on us. 

Do you think this is dangerous?  Obviously we wouldn't want to be doing anything to hurt dd.

    Your mom needs to relax.  I mean, she's laughing & having fun.  It certainly doesn't sound like your DH is shaking her/jerking her head or anything.  My kids love to swing upside down.  All in good fun!

    We do the same thing. DD loves it. And my MIL also freaks out about it. I agree w/ the pp..as long as it's not too rough it's just fine :) I do keep my hand under/supporting DD's head though, just for extra support.

    My mother reacts the same way when DH rough houses with DS.  My DS loves it. I have to admit though, sometimes I worry a little bit about it too.

    Same here. My mom said that it could hurt DSs brain. I am not sure if it is true or not. Since all of our mom/mils are saying this it could be generational. DH does not do it to rough or for too long. I think in moderation it is okay. At the same time I have never asked the pedi or looked into the effects. I just blew her off as picking on DH like always.

    Thanks for all of your responses, they make me feel better.  We are going to the pedi in 2 weeks so I am going to ask her then.  Of course, when I told this to my mom she said that was too far away from now!
