From TTTC: Did the 1st cycle of Clomid work for anyone?

I need hope, ladies. I am on my first cycle of Clomid, 50 mg, and am hoping and praying that one cycle does the trick. Aside from the obvious reason, we are paying for the ultrasounds out of pocket so we can't really afford to do anymore than 2-3 cycles.

I took Clomid on cd 5-9 and go in for my first follie check tomorrow, cd 13. So far, I feel nothing as far as ovulating goes. I did have a few hot flashes and headaches while on the medicine but that was it. I feel like my lack of se's are an indication that I'm not going to ovulate. I guess tomorrow we'll know for sure but I'm not feeling so hopeful. Sad I bought opk's today but have no idea when to use them since I am very irregular to start with.

Yup it did for us. Our first round was 50mg, and it was an unmonitored cycle. We also did an IUI though to help increase the chances instead of TI.

The 2nd round worked for us at 50mg. But I did ovulate on the first cycle. GL!

ps - babycreation dot com has O sticks for just cents, each. Nice way to test daily for a couple weeks. However, I will say that it takes a while for the line to come up for me, and it's never super dark.

I did. It was a disaster of a cycle though. At my follie check they discovered that I had PCOS, had 2 very immature follies and my lining sucked. I was told there was no way I would get pregnant that month. After many tears were shed, the result of that disaster of a cycle is in my siggy Smile

Thanks for the success stories! I thought I had a bit of twinges here and there but I think that was just my dinner settling, ha ha. I'm actually excited about tomorrow so that I can see the status of my follies!

DavezWife, thanks for the recommendation of the website. I nearly flipped when I saw how expensive the opk's were at Walgreens! I just settled for the 7 tests for $20 so hopefully that's all I'll need.

50 mg Clomid and TI worked on the first cycle for me... both times! FWIW, I did CD5-9 with my first baby, and 3-7 with my second baby. Both times, I ovulated on CD19. The side effects didn't start for me until probably CD13, and lasted for about a week (hot flashes, disgustingly violent mood swings, etc. We're lucky DH was able to "power through" and do the deed despite my lovely temperament at the time

My 1st cycle was 50mg and unmonitored, and it worked, but it ended in a m/c. My RE then upped my dose to 100mg and added Met and Progesterone, and it worked again m 6th cycle and resulted in my daughter!

first cycle of 100mg clomid/met/IUI/trigger worked for us with DS, and the second cycle of the same when we were TTC#2.

i had no s/e except some hot flashes and headaches.

the first time i O'd on CD15, the 2nd time on CD16.

the first round of clomid worked for me but i also did a trigger shot and IUI to improve our chances.

Just stopping by this board; it came up in a search! I was curious about Clomid working on the first try too. I know it doesn't happen for everyone - I can be patient. I don't really want to go beyond Clomid.. Good luck to all.

Can anyone tell me exactly what they did.. when they first started the Clomid. My doctor advised taking it days 3 thru 7 .... But I don't remember when I'm supposed to start "trying" or not trying.

I read some articles that said to skip a day or two in between.
