ultrasound to measure baby?

My period has been off since I went off the pill in July, and I go in for my first OB work up tomorrow. I had my first period after going off the pill in October, then took Provera at the end of November, then had my last period at the beginning of December. Since my period has been off and I've only had 2 since August, do you think they will do an ultrasound to measure the baby and see how far I am?

Trying to decide if my husband should take work off to go with me.. I wouldn't want him to miss an US.

I had my first ultrasound at 4 weeks and then a 2nd at 6 weeks 5 days, but I've seen where a lot of drs won't do them until later on near 8-12 weeks. I wouldn't want to take the chance of his missing it, I think my husband was more in "aw" than I was!

They might. Who knows. I'd bring him though. It'll give him a chance to ask questions, etc. Oh, and if they do an U/S it'll be an internal (dildo cam).

At my 1st appt they scheduled an u/s for me to have next time to date the baby. Even if DH takes off though, it's not much to look at. I'm almost 6 weeks and had my u/s yesterday. It was literally a dot. lol. Good luck! Congrats!

Both of the offices I went to schedule u/s seperate because they are done by an u/s tech instead of the ob. But each practice is different.

You could always call and ask. My OB does the early U/S's himself in the office.

I'd call your OB. Some do them in their office and others have to go somewhere else for them. My U/S was the same day as my app't to check for gestational age and viability.

BTW- because of his work schedule DH was able to go to the app't but not the U/S. They did give me some pics of it.

i had my first one at 10w2d, they thought I was 11w and change - my periods were off too, and they wanted to measure. I didn't have an u/s at the first appt. I called ahead to ask about it for the 1st, b/c DH wanted to go if they were going to do the u/s.

It would be nice for your DH to be there either way. But you can just call the doc office and ask if they will do a u/s if you're curious.

My office does them routinely around 9 weeks even if you are regular with your periods.

i'd call and ask, thats what i did. and i was all prepared, even warned dh about the internal u/s and i had an external one! pleasantly surprised!

If you call them they will probably tell you if they plan to do one. I would have DH come to appt though just in case!
