Where to have 2nd bday?

Trying to decide between Gymboree and Pump It Up (or a place like that).  Any preferences or reasons one would be better that the other? Last year we had the party at our house and while I really like that idea, DH is dead set against it.

Re: Where to have 2nd bday?

  • Has your DC been to Pump It Up??  We went a few weeks ago - I thought that DS would love it - VERY wrong.  Granted it was ridiculously crowded, but he was not fond of the bouncy things at all.  Some friends have foudn that their DC's didn't really enjoy them until around 3.  I wish my DS DID like them b/c it would be a perfect place for a bday party.  I'm thinking maybe we will do this next year.

I'm in the same boat.  We don't have room at our house for the amount of people DH would invite, so I'm trying to decide either My Gym or something similar...

  • I think a bouncy house type of place is just a little old for 2 year olds....I know at our local place, there are several that DS is just too small to go up on, the steps are so steep!  We are doing Gymboree this year.  I would love to have it at home, but there are about 20-25 toddlers we need to invite and that's just too much for inside at our house (and we have a big house!).  If I knew we could do it in our yard, I'd do it at home in heartbeat, our yard is huge.  But it was 30 degrees on his birthday last year, so I can't take a chance.

  • Yea- he likes the jump places, but only b/c he can run around.  Not b/c he actually jumps.  It would be for the benefit of some of his older "friends".

He went to a bday at Gymboree this past weekend and had a blast, so I am leaning towards that.

  • We are doing gymboree this year for several reasons.

    1) I don't have to have it at my house, which requires cleaning before and after ect...

     2) My DD LOVES gymboree, and loves her teachers. (We do a few classes each week.)

3)I think 2 is the perfect age for gymboree parties. I am saving other venues for when she is older. I don't think gymbo parties will be as fun after the age of 3, if you KWIM.

4)You can spend as much as you want on food. You can make it easy with just cake and apps, or do an entire meal, pizza ect...

5)I like the 2 hour time limit. We don't have to decorate, and they will do goody bags for $3 per child. You can't ask for much easier than that!! Also the supplies are included with the cost of the party-plates, napkins,  invitations, thank you notes, I think you get the picture!
