Nurseries and Baby Gear

Bassinett

Does anyone recommend getting one?  I was actually going to skip this purchase, because I think it's a waste of money.

Any advise/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Re: Bassinett

  • I have heard they are nice but not needed. The only positive that I know is that they are easy to move so the baby can be in any room with you. I am using one from a friend so the baby can be in the room with me for the first few months.

  • With DD four years ago we were very lucky, after the first few days of her falling asleep with me in the recliner, we tried the bassinet in our room and she was too much of a light sleeper, so we put her in her crib and she was perfect.  So she never slept a night in the bassinet we bought her.  Im debating on trying it this time around, because now if the baby wakes up, DD's room is right across the hall and i dont want it to disturb her.  Im thinking we will try without and I can always send daddy to walmart to pick one up on day two :)
  • we are going to use one - we cannot fit a PNP in our bedroom and I want her in there at first.  And I like the abilty to wheel her from room to room.  Plus, with a one story condo, we don't need a PNP.

  • I'm planning on getting one I saw on target.com for $70. It's cheap but cute and that way we can have the baby in the bedroom with us. And we can still afford the crib in the nursery. I wouldn't spend too much on the bassinet if you're also going to buy a crib... unless you want to of course!
