Palos community hospital

Hey I was just wondering if anyone has heard any good or bad news on Palos Hospital for having a baby. My choices are between Christ hospital and Palos for my doctors and I am trying to make the decision. Thanks

Re: Palos community hospital

  • My dr goes to both and recommends Christ over Palos "just in case" something was to happen, Palos isnt as advanced as Christ and Hope Center.

  • Well I just had my 2nd baby on Sunday at Christ.  I had my 1st at Palos.  I loved Palos.  The rooms are very nice, the nurses were wonderful, I had a great experience there.   I had my 2nd at Christ because the baby has a heart defect and I had been going to a cardiologist at Hope Childrens Hospital.  In that respect Christ was wonderful.  The room was small and not as comfy as Palos - it is old.  But the nurses were just as wonderful and since my baby had to go to the NICU I was happy to be there.  The NICU staff is fantastic as was pretty much everyone I met there.

If I had not known my baby was going to need the NICU then I probably would have chosen Palos again - just for my own comfort.  You can go on tour of each and see which you like.

  • Thanks for the advise. Being pregnant for the first time is stressful enough, trying to figure out which hospital and everything else that would be best for the baby just adds to it. The things that stress out women right......
  • Christ has a Level III neo natal until, which is the highest possible.

You couldn't be more right on that one!  I'm trying to figure this all out now in my 6th month of pregnancy... considering switching hospitals or doctors depending on where I'd be more comfortable, and now thinking about where the baby's Dr will be too... the decisions never end!

  • I hear Palos is a great hospital- check with your insurance company, mine (united health) doesn't cover the epidural at Palos : )
  • I delivered at Palos and LOVED it there.  The nurses were unbelievably friendly and made sure I was always comfortable.  The room was very cozy, I felt like I was in a hotel!  My husband had to sleep in a reclining chair overnight though, they had no cots.  But everything else was great :-)  I just really liked how I stayed in the same room from the moment I checked in to the moment I checked out, instead of being wheeled around from room to room.
