Toddler/full size bed conversion kit?

The crib we ordered converts to both a toddler and full size bed.  We did not order a conversion kit because we are spending so much money now plus we would need to store it and space is limited.  Do we need to order the conversion kit from the crib manufacturer, or can we just order any conversion kit from any manufacturer when we are ready for it?

    Try posting this on the one of the toddler boards. They might have a better idea since they're closer to this step! HTH!

    I would order the kit now, just in case they discontinue the model that you have.  It would really stink if you were unable to convert your kiddo's bed!!  The kit that we had to buy was about $150 and the box isn't that big....I know that friends of mine have it stored under their bed b/c space is also limited in their home. HTH.

    I didn't buy it for my DS when we bought the other nursery furniture then the crib manufacturer went out of business and we couldn't find one.  We tried just using a metal bed frame, which all the retailers told us would work but we've been trying to convert it for the last two weeks with no success. 

     Definitely buy it!  You don't want to be stuck in our situation!
