Mine were more uncomfortable than painful. Though as you progress more they are less painful. Or it could just be that you want that baby out and know that labor will be much more painful....it's a toss up.

No progress. I was super relieved because im just not mentally ready yet! I still feel really good. No evicition notice yet : )
Do they really start doing the internals that early!?! Hummm... I'm not ready for them in 4 weeks... or 6 weeks for that matter.
I only had one this early because I've been having a lot of BH contrax and mentioned it to my OB. She wanted to check to make sure nothing was happening just yet.

I remember them being more uncomfortable than painful. They do get better as you make progress.

mine did one at 36, i think its easy because she also swabbed for the group b strep, which i hoped was not in the pooper and it wasn't!
