Back from peri...wish it was better

I just got back from meeting with the peri.  She measured my cervix again with a transvaginal ulatrasound.  It is down to 1.5.   It was 2.3 last Wednesday.  There is also funneling. The plus is that my cervix is still closed, for now.

The goal is to make it to 32 weeks.  Thats about 4 weeks away.  I am scared.  I told my husband that we should start thinking about the possibility of early pre-term delivery and what that means.

Re: Back from peri...wish it was better

  • I am sorry. That's what happened to me. Did you talk to the doctors about getting the steroid shots? Are you on bedrest?

  • I am on bed rest now.  I am allowed up to use the bathroom, stretch, water, food, and drs appointments.

I got the steroid shots last week Wednesday and Thursday when we first discovered the shortned cervix.

  • Hang in there!  You and your babies are in my thoughts!
  • I'm glad you got the shots - I swear that made a world of difference for my two and you can see how early they were born. Keep them cooking, I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
  • take it easy!! you can make it to 34 weeks!!
  • On the positive side - you've made it to 28 weeks.  That's really good.

Take it easy and keep the babies cooking.

  • I'm so sorry - how scary.  I will say a prayer that your little ones hang in there another 4 weeks.

  • I'm glad you got a round of steriods.  Our OB's office decided to give us a second dose of them around the time I delivered.  I had one round with Christopher at 31 weeks and he had more breathing issues despite being born 2.5 weeks later.
  • Hang in there girl, you are in our thoughts!!
  • Hang in there!  I was put on strict bedrest at 24w due to a shortened cervix, too (mine was down to 1.8).  I had funnelling around 28 weeks and was even dilated to 1cm, but I was able to make it to almost 33 weeks.  You can do it!!

Please don't hesitate to e-mail me if I can offer any support - sazelasko at yahoo dot com.  This board was a lifesaver when I was on bedrest and e-mailing some of the ladies I met on this board helped me get through my toughest days on the couch.  It is SO SO hard, but you can do it!!!

    Take care!  Sara

  • so sorry to hear shortening cervix news. ?the good news is that you're still PG. ?take it day by day. take it easy. ?ask about getting your steroid shots! ?i'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. ?those babies know better than anyone and when they say out...know that it's not always a bad thing.

    :) april?

  • Hang in there!  So sorry that your cervix is shortening, but at least they've caught it.  Lots of women on here have made it for weeks and months longer with strict bedrest.  Good luck!

  • Yeep!  That does sound a bit worrisome. Hang in there!
  • I'm sorry this is happening. I had an incompetent cervix and mine kept shortening and funneling. I had a cerclage placed at 21 weeks and was on bedrest from 16 weeks until I delivered at 29w4d.

    Good luck hon!

  • So sorry that this is happening to you. Hang in there.  Like pps said, it can be done.  T&P coming your way.
  • My cervix was 1.5 w/funneling at 23w & I made it to 35w6d w/bedrest! ?(I actually probably would have gone longer, but I was induced b/c my bp was elevated.) ?Hang in there!
