How old was your dc when you took him or her out for the first time? (Not including pedi appts etc.) I'm talking shopping or to lunch, things like that.
probably about a week, and probably target, don't really remember. although at 12 days she went on her first road trip and had stops at Denny's and such
I only remember having the fear I would leave them somewhere-like the car or at home, since she was quiet and I wasn't used to her being around.
We went out our first week home. I take her out every day as long as the weather is good. She loves being out and about and it normally is a good way to get her to nap. She is still napping in her carrier from our morning run to Kroger, Rice Epicurean and Costco.
A week...I am not the type of person to stay at home. It would have made me batty! I just covered her car seat with a stroller or carried her in a sling so people couldn't get too close.
hmm. we came home from the hospital on day 4, which was a Friday. That next Monday we had a pedi visit and then went to lunch afterwards. I'm certain that same week, I made Chad take me out to dinner several times because being stuck at home all day sucked. We also visited Super Target several times that next weekend. (so still within 14 days old)
3 days old and we went to BRU.. I HAD to leave the house... at 4 days old we went to brunch.... we go out every day.. I just can't stay home.. I'm way too social.. and so is he...
Day 9, I think. That was only because I had him the week of Thanksgiving so we were busy with family at the house, etc. and didn't want to face the weekend crowds out and about.
On another note--anyone's pedi tell them they couldn't do this for 6 weeks? Mine said the opposite but my BFF's have put that restriction on them (their DC is a full-term, healthy baby). Just curious...

mine said nowhere for atleast 8 weeks. i told him that wasn't exactly possible and did what i could to keep her away from people when i did take her out.
Yikes! There is no way I could stay cooped up for a month+ or even weeks! I don't have plans of hanging out in crowds and letting strangers fondle and breathe all over him/her.
Assuming everything goes well and as planned (baby comes early or on time...ha!) we're driving to my parents' in New Orleans not long after that.
I could see not having other people touch them, pass them around, breathing on them for 6 weeks, but a trip to Target where they are protected by you in a cart, or in a sling, I would think would be fine. ?? Doctors probably just say that long so they are not liable if something does happen!
Wyatt was two weeks old. ?We had to make a trip to the ER because DH had kidney stones. ?I wasn't opposed to going out before that, but I just really hadn't felt up to it.
One week - to a friend's baby shower. Two weeks to anything else. But that was because I felt like I was hit by a truck - not because I didn't want to take her out
My mom and I took DS on a quick shopping trip to BRU following my post-op dr. appointment when he was 6 days old. The first time I took him out for a longer shopping trip he was about two weeks and like others we went to Target.

I think Kohen was 2 days old and Kamryn was 3 days old
I can't stay locked up in the house for long. I am too much of a busy body.
So Tasty, So Yummy

Mia was less than a week old. I don't remember exactly.
This one... not sure with the section. But I'd love to go to church on Sunday. It'd be day 5. We'll see if I'm up to it.
My pedi is so relaxed. He said to go out, you don't have to let everyone touch him or her.
Sarah was 3 months old...Jacob was a little over one week old.
