Don't you think when there is an inauguration, everyone should have the day off? Its great that some schools and some companies are showing it but I would think its something so important to our country that we should get the day off.
Its not like it happens all that often, its such a historical moment that everyone should be able to watch.

I may be the only one who thinks this way, but I think we have enough holidays. Also, if McCain was getting inaugurated today, I don't think people would be asking why it's not a holiday. I think most people would be going about their business and tuning if if they had the chance/remembered.
There is more hype around today because it's historical, not because we are swearing in another president.
Honestly, if today was a holiday and we had it off from work I wouldn't be watching the ceremony anyway........and I think that many kids will be more likely to see part or all of the ceremony in school. I remember when I was in school we watched historically significant events.
