Finger food ideas for 9 month old

I know this is asked all the time, but pretty please? I'm about to go to the grocery and need some good ideas for stuff I can pick up for her.

She's all about table food and is pretty good about eating stuff, I just need something besides cheerios and cheese. Ideas, please?

Re: Finger food ideas for 9 month old

  • we are just starting but the few things I bought to try out are:

-mini pancakes (they were a hit)

    - Dole mandarin oranges and pears fruit cups

    -pastina /chicken broth

-mini pasta- tubetini I think they were called. will mix with olive oil per pedi's recommendation

    - ground meat and shredded cheese

    - yogurt (also a hit)

     -bananas, avacados

Eventually I will feed him whatever we re eating but we need to transition first

  • I asked this just a few days ago. Some of the replies I got were soft fruit, steamed veggies, soft cooked meat, crackers. There were others but I don't remember them as a lot of the suggestions contained dairy and my dd is allergic to dairy.
  • DS eats pretty much anything we eat now, so he eats chicken cut up, green bean, peas, corn, carrots, grilled cheese, apples, bananas, cheese, pasta

  • Oh and I bought a few of the frozen single serving of veggies- I think it is Green Giant that makes them, Shop Rite had them on sale this week, I bought peas and mixed veggies. I know I wont always have time to make fresh veggies so I bought this to try out for when time is tight

  • Someone posted this site & link for finger foods. I think a Nestie runs it. You can add your own recipes and ideas to it too.

  • In addition to what was already mentioned... (my DD has been refusing pureed foods for a couple of weeks, so I've had to get creative):

    - any cooked veggies cut up

    - frozen peas/carrots/corn, etc cooked

    - any fruit cut up

    - fruit cup

    - rice

    - beans

    - egg yolk scrambled then cut up (I make a bunch in advance and freeze in little disks)

    - french toast and pancakes (I make them ahead and freeze and re-heat)

    - cut up pieces of chicken

    - ground beef (meatballs, etc)

    - all the lines of gerber puff, dehydrated fruit, yogurt melts, veggie puffs, etc.

    - avocado

I'm almost at the stage of just giving her cut up pieces of whatever I'm eating, but I'm working on the transition.

  • We've done cut up green beans, carrots and peas.  We're going to do firm tofu tossed in Cheerio dust, blueberries and cottage cheese soon.
  • Kendall loves his quesadilla slices.
  • We do most of the things listed above.  DD's favorites are small pieces of toast or bread with hummus, large curd cottage cheese (the curds are big enough for DD to pick up), blueberries, avocado, ground beef, and small pieces of chicken.
