2nd Tri Check In

2nd Tri Check-In

Happy Inauguration Day! If you are in DC, I hope you are safe and warm and not stuck in a metro line or a road closure ; )

I have offered to take over this check-in.  Feel free to add your info to this post and I'll add you to the group.  And of course, if you can update me on when you are "moving on" to 3rd tri, that would be helpful too!  Please forgive me if I am asking "repeat" questions-- if you have ideas for good questions, please feel free to page me.

Welcome to our 2nd Tri Board! : ) ejgballerina, vilicious, heathb21, alison43, GypsyEsq, CJB8, jennyvag

Any big news or appts. this week?

QUESTION(S): How often do you weigh yourself?  Do you feel like you are ahead, behind, or right on track....and do you care?

Have a great day!

Re: 2nd Tri Check In

  • QOTD:  I weigh myself about once a week-- when I think of it.  I was not thrilled with my weight gain in first tri (8 lbs) but I feel like it is leveling off a bit now-- though I am trying not to stress about it.  It is what it is and as long as the baby is healthy, I'll deal with my fat a$$ later ; )

  • QOTD: I weigh myself about once a week usually just to kind of track how my weight is going. I think I am right on track so far...(no one has complained yet about it!)

  • I am not weighing myself.  I haven't felt good so I'm lucky if I eat enough.  At my last dr's appt, I had lost 3 pounds.
  • Can you add me please? I'm due 6/29/09 from IVF #1 with a singleton.

I have my big u/s next Monday - I can't wait to find out if I have a little girl or boy in my belly!

I try to limit myself to weighing in once a week on Mondays. I feel like in the past 2 weeks since I started working out more, I've gained more! I made the mistake of weighing in yesterday and then again today for some ungodly reason and I gained 1.5 lbs in one day - I'll never do that again!

I think I'm a little high in the weight gain range. I've gained about 10 lbs and I'm only 17 weeks. I'm trying to make sure I eat better now that m/s is gone. I do care about weight gain. My mom gained 50 lbs with both me and my sister and had a really hard time with her weight ever since. I guess it's in the genes, so I'd like to stay healthy and keep exercising and keep my weight gain in the healthy range. But, most importantly I want my baby to be healthy!

  • I don't weigh myself...so just once a month at the ob. I was up 10 pounds at 23 weeks, and I am cool with that! We'll see at my next appointment though!

  • Q: I weigh myself once a week or so, or whenever I remember.  I don't worry about it too much.  I don't care so much about how much I gain.  I actually lost about 20 pounds in the first tri and haven't gained any of it back - but I know I'll gain at some point.  I was overweight to start with so it's not like I need to gain much weight this pregnancy.  And with my other 2 I picked up the most weight in the third tri so I anticipate the same pattern again.

Update: We're having a boy - you can add that!

  • QOTD: to be honest I keep forgetting. I went to OB last week and she weighed me, I've gained 4 lbs so far. I should get on because I finally have an appetite and have been eating now. According to my OB I'm doing great because usually from 20 wks on, you tend to "pack on the pounds". I care only in the sense that I want to be healthy and gain only what I need for the babies.
  • Ok, I guess I am getting up the courage to join now...My due date is 7/1/09, expecting a singleton after IVF#2. I have an appt this week, but I have appts every week so I don't expect anything to report (I hope). Went on leave from work for modified bedrest (pretty much just sitting on the couch all day) last week (at 16 weeks).

?QOTD: I weight myself almost every day but some days I forget. I am definitely behind on weight gain (haven't gained any weight yet at 17 weeks - I had actually lost 2-3 lbs but think I've gained them back) and it concerns me a bit, but at our last ultrasound (about 3 weeks ago) it was measuring ahead so I'm trying not to worry.?

  • How often do you weigh yourself?  I step on the scale every day most of the time.  Do you feel like you are ahead, behind, or right on track....and do you care?  I really wanted to try to gain less weight this pregnancy than I did in my first one and I started off great.  Then in the last two months, at my monthly OB appointments, my gains from month to month have been large, which is upsetting.  I know some of it is from making poor choices during the holidays and not having the opportunity to walk as much as I would like due to weather/hectic schedules.  I'm hoping to walk more now that my schedule is calmer and I'm definitely trying to make better choices about what to eat.  I'm hoping that my gain over the next couple of months will be smaller and will average out my prior gain to where it isn't as dramatic as it is now.

  • I don't weigh myself often.  Maybe every 2 weeks if I think about it.  I am trying not to get stressed about gaining weight.   At my last appt. (18w) I was up 2lbs, but I had lost a pound previously, so I have gained 1 pound during this pregnancy.  I feel like I am eating all of the time though!

  • I use to weigh myself twice a week, but lately I haven't even been doing that.  I'm right on track for having twins, and my dr. seems happy with my weight gain!
  • I try and weigh myself once a week. At one point I was down 20 lbs then gained 2 as of my last appt and then promptly got sick and lost those 2 lbs again. So right now I'm still down 20. Hopefully I'll be able to gain a little bit by my appt Feb 5th.

  • I never weight myself at home.  I always wait until I have an appointment.  I really have no clue if I'm on track or not.  I am concerned because I'm now to the point where I am becoming self-conscious about how I look.  I have an appointment on Thursday and I'm nervous to step on the scale.  I think I've probably gained between 8-10 pounds.
  • QOTD: I try to weigh myself every Monday (when I start a new week of pg).  I was RIGHT on track for twins, but now I'm almost 5 pounds ahead.  Ooops.  But I'm not trying to gain or lose.  Whatever happens, happens.

This is my last week in the 2nd tri.  I can't believe how slow the 1st tri was, and how fast the 2nd tri has gone!

  • Hi there!  Can you change my due date (from 5/25 to 5/31) they moved it back.. ugghh

QOTD:  I was myself fairly regularly.  As of my appt on the 15th I was still at PP weight but everyone is cool with that since I was overweight to begin with.  I haven't gotten on the scale since because I ate horribly this weekend.. lol.
