1st birthday outfit vent

I mentioned to MIL that I wanted something cute for DS's party.   I'm not sure if I'm going to go the 1 shirt route or just get him a nice dressy outfit.  Well, she said, he's got a bunch of cute stuff already.   Yes, I know, but I want something that was bought with his birthday in mind.   If he were a girl, she would expect me to get a pretty dress but just because he's a boy, he doesn't need a nice new outfit?     He can make due with something he already has?   If I decide on a dressy outfit, I do plan on using it as his Easter outfit.   And most likely, a dressy outfit would just require getting a new top since he has several brand new  nice khakis.

    DS is wearing a cute striped sweater I bought him for Christmas.  He hasn't worn it yet because I planned on it being his birthday outfit.  I am pairing it with some cordoroys.  He just needs some new shoes!  He is always barefoot in the house!

    Why is it any of her business?  Do what you want.  He's your DS.  We actually went through 3 outfits at DS's party due to him getting messy, so I was glad I bought him a nice dressy one and a "first birthday" one.  Unfortunately after those two I had to deal with what I had.  Do what you want...he only turns one once!!!
