fwiw, I live in a Southern area that never gets snow, even when it is predicted. & every forecast of inclimate weather brings a scurry to the grocery store for milk & bread. I don't know why, but I alwasy make fun of "those people." Until today, when I called Nate to ask him to pick up a loaf or two of bread at the store on his lunch break.
Nate: "Sure. Why? Are we out?"
Blair: "Ummm...you know. In case it snows.
::silence for 10 seconds::
Nate: "No. You are not doing this. You are NOT being a crazy person."
Blair: "But Nate!! I just want to make sure you have sandwiches! And that we are fed should we be stranded!"
Nate: ::sigh:: "Do you want milk with that, too, Scarlett?"
Re: I can't tell if he's laughing or peeved
Yeah, I have to make fun you now.
I would love a snow day tomorrow, but I am not getting my hopes up. ?I'm just south enough that the ground is usually too warm for it to stick and I get to watch all of the counties just to the north cancel school.?
lolz, but it has been FREEZING here the past week, so it might stick!
Ooooh, toilet paper! didn't even think of that one!
GOOD LORD!! ::blair runs to grocery store::
I live in an area that gets snow a lot. And by a lot, I mean every year. In the same months. It's called "winter." So you'd think the folks around here would be used to driving in it, and also familiar with the amount of snow it takes to close a road. But still, every single time we have even a snow flurry, which melts, they hit the stores for bread, milk, and eggs.
DH likes to say, oh look, snow is predicted, time to make french toast.

ha! this cracked me up.
I think Nate and I would make great friends. You can come, too.
Make sure you don't buy the kind that is causing salmonella all over the place! https://news.google.com/news?hl=en&q=peanut+butter+salmonella+outbreak&revid=2021504688&resnum=0&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=news_group&resnum=1&ct=title
Don't forget bottled water!!
Ditto! It sux big time!!
FWIW - I learned via hurricane planning that dried fruit is great and easy to store, and that having two or three large pizzas delivered in advance of the storm can keep you fed for awhile and that frozen meat can thaw nicely (but that was not in snow, so ...)
Just sayin' . . . you don't have to stock an entire panic room, but making sure you have essentials is just plain smart if you are anticipating major shutdowns.

All because it does not include bread, milk, TP, or peanut butter.
This is so true for where I live as well.
If even a light dusting of snow is predicted, the shelves are bare, the gas stations are backed out into the road and they close schools...BEFORE it even happens. The next morning when you get up, no snow, no school.
