I know this means I can not have sex, but does it mean I can not have an orgasm (extrenally stimulated)?

I see the doc on Wednesday and will ask her then, but I am curious what you have been told or have found out.

i would avoid all of it.. just because orgasms cause muscle contractions, and that could be your uterus, could irritate your cervix- i def. would wait

I think it depends on the doctor and on the reason they're putting you on pelvic rest

"Blunt sex" just does not sounds pleasant to me....

I agree with pp, I would hold off until talking to your Dr.

I'm on pelvic rest, and I didn't get too specific with my OB when we talked about it - but I'm just avoiding stimulating anything down there to be on the safe side. It definitely doesn't hurt to ask though!

Um...I was put on PR when I was pregnant with DS and was havng BH, and wish I'd asked the blunt question!

I rubbed one out at 33 1/2 weeks, and my water broke 5 minutes later. NO idea if the orgasm caused my water to break...I've been too embarassed to ask my doctor! (I waited MONTHS to tell DH. Talk about guilt!)

Reason for pelvic rest is that I cramped last Monday and spotted on tuesday. Nothing showed up on US but I was told to go on pelvic rest for a week.

I was on complete pelvic rest for about 2 months due to placenta previa. The nurse told me absolutely no orgasm/masturbation/stimulation at all b/c that could cause uterine contractions. A month into it I talked with my doctor and he told me that masturabtion every now and then would be ok as long as there "wasn't anything banging/pushing up against" my cervix

I'd hold off until you can ask your doc and be sure to be very specific--it wasn't as embarassing as I thought it'd be.

My pelvic rest means neither. No sex or orgasms. The doctor made that very clear. (kinda embarassing to hear him say it).

It was just a discussion than happened last night with DH. I have been very frustrated this week and keep dreaming about sex. Neither of us was sure about orgasm without sex but are not going to do anything about it. I was just curious what others have been told.

I think pelvic rest means NO hanky panky activites of any kind. Sorry.

I was put on pelvic rest at the end of December due to a low-lying placenta (and on rest until at least Feb 4th) and all the nurse told me was no intercourse or anything inserted into the vagina. DH and I were still concerned about orgasming and if that was allowed...so we called the Drs office. The on-call Dr that clarified asked if I was on PR because of a placenta issue, and when I told him yes, its low-lying he just told me that I could still orgasm but absolutely NO insertion.

My uterus/stomach has tightened the last few times DH and I did anything, we we're going to hold out for the remainder of my PR.
