I'm not at GNO- Alex got worse! :(

DH and Alex ended up coming with me to Jazzercise to play in the back room and just generally get out of the house while I taught my class.  At 4:30, when they came out of the back playroom at Jazzercise to get me, Alex passed out... eyes rolled back, ;lips blue, the whole deal. 

He has done this before- twice- they told us it was "breath holding spells" and that it was brought on by extreme emotion.  He has never done it with a fever, though- and this one was longer- about a minute and it took him longer to snap out of it.  It was awful.

Anyway, we called 911, went to the ER in the ambulance, and his temp was 104!   They said we should have been giving him Tylenol AND Motrin and not just the Motrin.  (Mommy and Daddy guilt kick into HIGH gear here) They said what he had was called a "febrile seizure" and is brought on by a high spike in fever.  Totally normal in todders and the key is to keep that fever down.

We know he was at 98.5 degrees when we left for Jazzercise, according to the ear thermometer.  He was running around and asking to go to the park- we really thought he was fine (obviously if you see my post below). DH said their last 5 minutes in the back room Alex was really lethargic and got much warmer.   It's so hard to say because I wasn't there...

They gave him motrin and tylenol and when we left the hospital his fever was down to 97.   We have our schedule of dosage and are going to wake him through the night and keep him on  tylenol and motrin throughout the night.  He is asleep now after a long, very hard day. 

We are taking him to his regular pedi tomorrow because of his previous passing out- last time they ran an ekg and it was normal- but I am going to insist that they run an eeg (brain scan) since this is the third time he has had an episode like this... it could be totally unrelated- but I think it's better to be on the safe side.

Anyway- just wanted to tell you guys!   I need even more "no fever no seizure" dust!  So sad. Thanks for reading...
