the only way to know for sure is a visit to the doctor. i would say no less than 5 times i took tru to the dr for this question- 4x it was teeth and 1x it was ears. there really can be no way to differentiate without looking in there.
I wish I knew the answer to this one, too. My poor baby was diagnosed with an ear infection two days before Christmas and the only reason I took him then was because he had been running a fever. I took him back to the doctor last Thursday because he still hadn't been himself since the first ear infection and I suspected another. This time it is a double ear infection.
Some things my baby did that clue me in (now that we've had two) are crying and squirming when I lay him flat to change his diaper and not sleeping well. (DS has never been a great sleeper but lately it has been terrible.) Reese never really tugged at his ears so it was never obvious to me that it was the ear infection. Plus he has a total of 4 teeth now and he got them all within the last month.
