Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Alcohol?

Hi girls!  What is the rules on drinking alcohol after a miscarriage?  I had a D&E on Jan. 5th.  Haven't had a f/u appt yet, that is on Tues. Jan. 20th.  I was just curious because we are going to a party today & I could really use a couple drinks!  TIA!

Re: Alcohol?

  • I am sorry for your loss.  I was never given any guidelines.  I would think as long as you are off your pain meds you can enjoy many drinks.  I know I did, plus lots of ice cream.  I hope you have fun tonight.

  • I wasn't given guidance either... I would say that as long as you aren't on any meds that would have a reaction, I'm sure you're fine.

I went out last night and had a few drinks myself.  I figure I'll enjoy it for a few weeks before AF show and I'm officially back on the TTC wagon.

  • Like the other girls, I wasn't given any guidelines. I think as long as you aren't on any meds, it's fine. I woudl just be really careful as your tolerance might be very different from what you remember, especially if you haven't been drinking recently.

I do plan to get a bottle of wine for DH and myself this week. We had sushi too. It's good to remember that our bodies are returning to normal and we can do most of what we did before.?

  • Have one for me, too!  Check any of the papers that they gave you at your procedure, but mine told me to just not have alcohol for a day or two or something because of the medicine.  Have fun!
  • My discharge papers said not to have any alcohol that night.  So I assume by the next day is fine so long as you are not on pain meds.  I had my D&C on Friday and I am looking forward to having a few drinks tonight too.  Sorry for your loss.
  • As long as you arent taking any more medicine you should be fine.  I would suggest not drinking too much, because it can act as a blood thinner- so if you are still bleeding you might bleed more.  Enjoy your party!

  • I think I had a bottle of wine on New Years which was the day after my m/c started. ?Maybe not the best idea but I figured it was the safest time to drink. ?

  • I m/c naturally and had a drink the night after my U/S to confirm. I'm indulging now before we start TTC again.
