My MIL is getting married in September. To a guy we don't like, but that's not the issue. the issue is that tonight they informed us that their wedding will be child free. Yeah, their wedding their business, but still. He was 9 grandchildren, she has one. That's a big chunk of the family to exclude for a couple who wanted a small celebration with their families at their church. Even the reception is at the church so it's not like some big party that would be an inappropriate place for children.
I'm not upset or offended. I already have a babysitter. I'm just utterly suprised.
Re: Got some interesting news tonight.
Wow. ?That's incredibly strange. ?We had a kid-free wedding, but out of 150 guests, I think that affected a total of 3 couples - 2 of which probably wouldn't have made the trip up here anyway. ?And we provided babysitting if they wanted it.
But to have that policy at a small, intimate, family affair?? ?Ridiculous.?

I'm still somewhat of a fresh transplant from the wedding boards, and I've heard both sides of this one. I have to say that it would suck to have to leave my child at home, but at the same time, that's what they want. If it makes you feel any better, they probably stressed out about the flack they think they're going to get for it.
And yeah, family are full of surprises! I'd be curious as to what that deciding conversation sounded like.
Oh, and out of curiosity...how did they let everyone know?
