I mixed it with Grape juice and downed it like a shot. I've got a good case of the runs right now, but nothing too bad. If it doesn't start contractions, at least it helped with my constipation!
I was desperate with my first daughter, but could never stomach it. I tried walking my parents two german shepherds, I walked up and down the stairs, walked up hill -- anything to get the contractions to start, and nothing worked!
Good luck!

Hmm let me think, natural induction methods won't work unless your body is already on its its way. After 4 weeks of contractions, I'm just testing the waters.
How much did you take? With my first child I could only make myself take 1/4 tsp. of it - everywhere I read said to take 1-4 Tablespoons. That was way to much for me so I only tried 1/4 tsp. I never had any of the bad side effects and my water broke 6 hours later

lol... i get ya...
But I would have tried sex or walking before castor oil! That makes me want to puke just thinking about it!
2. Have you read about the risks of taking castor oil? It doesn't necessarily work and if it's giving you the runs, it could be causing you little one to pass meconium. Not worth the risk IMO.
Holy shizz Savara - you're not kidding around anymore huh? Well, I hope it works for you, so you have some positive return on what is SURE to be an unpleasant experience
Yes I did research the side effects, google is my friend. However since I have tried about everything else and I e-mailed my dr about trying castor oil, I figured a little wouldn't hurt.
I only used 2 tablespoons, many recipes called for up to 4 oz, but I thought lets start small first.

I would never take castor oil and there are dangers with dehydration, however, research has not found a correlation between castor oil and the baby passing meconium.?

A - her baby isn't "cooking"
B - shut your face
Wow. Chill. All that anger itsn't good for YOUR baby that is still "cooking".
I just find it hilarious when women who are in their first trimester have input on how a woman who is 39 weeks pregnant should be feeling. Some of us are in extreme pain every day. You already have a child, you should remember what it is like.
I'm so sure you'll be patiently letting your baby "cook" at 39 weeks without complaining. lol

maybe you have NEVER looked at my ticker?! I HAVE A CHILD! I HAVE BEEN THERE! I remember what it was LIKE and I never wanted to FORCE my kid out at 39 weeks (or even 37 weeks). Just sayin. So really, BACK OFF.

That is correct. The supposed increase in meconium comes from the fact that a majority of the people who try castor oil are past their due date where meconium is likely to have been passed already.
As for the dehydration, you just have to be really good about drinking fluids constantly.

Bravo. Good for you. You are one of the lucky ones that wasn't miserable during your last weeks. I hope for your sake that you are that lucky again this time. Just remember that not everyone is as comfortable during the last weeks.
And if you reread what I wrote I said that I would expect you to be more understanding because you already have a child.
Just wait. I think I'll mark this post for when you are 39 weeks pregnant, can't move without having contractions, can't sleep at night from the backaches and are taking care of your toddler through all of it. I think your age spread will be similar to mine right now. Good luck!
HOLD ON ONE SECOND. I WAS miserable. I was given tylenol 3 for extreme back pain, I was MISERABLE. but wanted my baby to come when she was ready. I was induced at 39w4d and she came at 39w6d... I STILL don't think was fully ready, but she was safer on the outside then she was the inside.

You were induced at 39w4d and you are judging women who are trying natural induction methods around the same time?

This all makes more sense to me now.
Doctors choice, NOT MINE
I was NOT sitting at home doing ANYTHING to get her to come.

My thoughts:
1. You haven't even reached your due date
2. Have you read about the risks of taking castor oil? It doesn't necessarily work and if it's giving you the runs, it could be causing you little one to pass meconium. Not worth the risk IMO.
yeah, I'm not effing around anymore.
