Keeping a baby warm up north?

We're going to MA in a couple weeks and I'm terrified that DD is going to freeze! She has some great jackets, but her poor little legs and feet get so cold. I'm thinking about getting her some snow pants for some days and then do the layering thing with tights underneath some of her heavier pants. Do you think that will be enough? Realistically she'll be inside 95% of the time - only leaving to go to the car and from the car to relatives houses. I guess I'm wondering what do you do?

  • We brought DD to Montreal a few weeks ago. We're talking 1 degree Faranheit (sp?)! We were mostly inside but when we did go out we layered her. Onsie, long sleeve shirt, pants, socks, boots, fleece snowsuit and bundle-me. Warming up the car first was really helpful!

    Stay warm! ?

  • I live in MA and if you're going to bei nside 95% of the time... the bundle me is a huge help, a fleecey carter's outfit and a warm jacket.

  • Just remember to warm the car first and always bring a blanket. They cannot wear a snow suit in the car, but I always bring it in case the car stalls somewhere and she gets cold.

I just dress her in layers. I find that a pair of warmer leggings under fleece lined pants do fine and she always wears boots with socks.

Its not that bad. Remember, babies live here all the time and do fine. Bring extra layers and have fun.

Its -45 today with the windchill and we were out all day. Jo was fine. But bring some extra moisturizer for their cheeks!

  • I had never heard of the bundleme before! Thanks, good suggestion.

  • I'm in Minnesota, and I recommend a puffy snowsuit and a footmuff, like the BundleMe (if baby is in an infant seat). Layers are good, but a thick snowsuit and hat are your best bets to keep baby warm!
