Anyone going to a chiropractor?

I'm dealing with some fun pelvic/pubic discomfort that only seems to be getting worse, and read that seeing a chiropractor can help.

Has anyone had luck with a chiro? I do NOT want to wear one of those jockstrap-looking maternity sling belt things, as sexy as they are.

Re: Anyone going to a chiropractor?

  • Oh come on its sexy! I have been wearing one since i was 18 weeks. Well its not a pregnancy one is a hip brace from the physical therapist. Which by the way dont waste your money it doesnt do a damn thing for the pelvic issue. I have an appt next week with chiropractor to for the same thing. I will let you know if it helps if you haven't gone already.

  • I have a belly bra that helps a little.  It looks like a tank top.  I got it at Target.
  • I'm seeing one for lower back pain so I don't know about the pelvic pain thing.  It's worked great for me though!
  • Yep, AKA my DH.  Lucky me!  Seriously, he has gotten me through two pregnancies with very minimal back/hip/pelvic pain.  ie:  I don't "see" him as much as I should, so sometimes I end up with pain he has to "fix", but I am confident he could pretty much prevent it all if I went in to the office as recommended by him.

Also, I am a nurse, and I worked full time up to my last delivery - 11 days late, and am still working this pregnancy, and plan to work up to being 14 days late this time if necessary.

  • P.S.  You might get the best results if you look specifically for someone who advertises that they are experienced in caring for pregnant patients.  They will probably have more advanced training in techniques that can help with your specific complaints.  Also, if you need to "flip" a breech baby they will know more about that.
  • I am seeing one for pelvic & lower back pain. I really notice a difference. I even sleep a little better.

They even showed DH some basic stretches to help me at home with comfort between my appts.

  • Oh & I agree with PP. The one I see is specialized in Pregnancy & Peds.
  • Thanks, ladies. My BIL is a chiropractic student and he made the same recommendation about seeing a chiropractor who specializes in pregnant patients. I'll give it a try!

  • Definitely...look one up here for one that can treat pregnancy-related issues:

  • I was having terrible middle back pain and went to see a chiropractor a week ago and the pain has completely disappeared. I totally reccommend it! GL!
