MIL and FIL arrive from England in countdown 10 days. Background: we get along perfectly for about 4 days and then it turns crazy. Last time she ended up switching out my kitchen drawers (which she then switched back before she left) for "comfort reasons". She also thinks that bfing a 6 month old child is crazy and obseen in public (I wear a cover too). This is also the woman who requested we wear pedometers to count our daily steps on her last trip and won't let me eat bread after 3 pm.
No point to this post really. Just to say that I feel stuck and my heart is beating already. Good thing she adores dd and will hopefully be entertained by her. Just had to say it outloud (or whatever...)
Re: MIL coming for 17 days. HELP.
"NO" is a complete sentence. "NO" MIL, don't switch my drawers, I prefer them the way they are. "NO" MIL, I will eat this bread when I chose. "NO" MIL the way I feed my daughter is not up for discussion.
Brahim's empowering program...Say it with me.
There is only one queen bee in the hive.
There is only one queen bee in the hive.
YOU are the queen bee.
This worked like a charm w/ my MIL and now we get along GREAT!
Are they staying in a hotel?
There may be something to the "Houseguests are like fish, great day but they stink up the place by day 3"
Good Luck!
I wish...we have 2 guest bedrooms at the moment so there is no real excuse. And she doesn't hear the word "no", atleast not the polite "no" that comes out of my mouth. Trying to grow some balls at the moment. Ha.
Honestly, I'm with brahim. I can't fathom people not sticking up for their own parenting choices...and personal choices. If my MIL ever tried to tell me what to eat, I'd tell her to go f* herself.
