vaginal bleeding at 6 weeks

in 1st Trimester

I am 6 weeks pregnant.  Yesterday I started spotting then I had quite a bit of bright red vaginal blood.  This morning I had more spotting, but  much lighter although it did seem to have some tissue with it.

 Is this a miscarriage?

 I called my obgyn, but was too late to talk to the nurse or doctor.  I have to wait till Monday to hear from them.

Any experience with this?

    Spotting is very normal but if it gets heavy enough that you need a pad go to the ER. For now just relax and get on "couch potato" duty.

    how heavy is heavy?  I filled a pad, but just spotting since.

    Can this wait till Monday when I can speak to my Dr.? Or should I go tomorrow to the ER?

    Yes.  I have been on bed rest since last Thursday due to spotting.  My spotting was red, pink, and brown.  The good news is that I haven't spotted since Wed. night.  Since you don't get to see your OB until Monday, I suggest you rest rest and rest.

    It is hard to say, you could be starting to miscarry or you might be totally fine and you are bleeding from some other reason.  If you are having any type of cramping with the bleeding that is not a good sign.  If you are just spotting now -- I would probably put myself on pelvic rest (nothing in, rest).  If you freak out anymore -- call the oncall doctor, explain your situation and then do as they say (wait until monday or go to ER).

    Your doctor doesn't have a 24 hour line or someone you can call after hours? If not, I would be finding another ob. I had brown spotting at 6 weeks and red blood at 7 weeks. My doctor had me go to the ER for the red bleeding. I personally wouldn't wait until Monday but that's because not knowing would kill me.

    I hope everything's ok. In my case, the bleeding was caused by a subchorionic hematoma (blood clot in the uterus). Fortunately, it has resolved itself after 3 weeks but it was really scary. GL!

    I had spotting for two weeks, from week6-8. All turned out fine. GL! I'll be praying for you!!

    Yeah... call your doctor's office... the 'emergency number' should be left on the answering machine.  Call that to talk to the oncall doctor and follow his/her instructions.
