well, maybe its not that bad, but..i don't know it feels pretty bad..
i don't know if anybody has noticed, but i haven't been on much for the past couple of weeks...i am having a REALLY tough time. ?
you know i love my boys more than i thought was capable for a person to love.. but if they don't start sleeping and maintaining a routine soon, i don't know what i am going to do. yes, they have been sick, so that is the exception..but this has been going on longer than that and ronnie is better for the most part.
joey is actually pretty awesome when it comes to sleeping, but for some reason it has been lately as soon as i get ronnie to sleep after HOURS of trying, thats when joey wakes up and wakes up ronnie. ?
today ronnie only took 2 "naps" (used to take 3, but i guess we are phasing the 3rd out)..the first was good- 2 hours..the second was 15 min. so, since 12 he has had 15 min sleep...and is refusing to go down NO MATTER what i do. i have remained calm and tried every trick in the book. but he knows...he has caught in to every technique, and as soon as i try, he fights it.?
this entire week, i have not finished "bedtime" until at the earliest 10pm..when i start at 6:30 usually.?
He can't CIO even a little bit..and example of why is last night..i put him his crib to go get a bottle to try to rock him to sleep with a bottle..and it took all of 5 minutes..he was screaming bloody murder, and when i got to the crib he was coughing (from being worked up, not sick cough), so i picked him up, he projectile vomited all over me. i finally got him to sleep, and he woke up 30 min later, but fell asleep sitting next to me on the couch at 11..
i started getting them down at 5:30, since they only had 2 naps and joey woke up at 3:00..joey fell asleep easily, but woke up from ronnie's screaming. ?now they are going back and forth between playing and crying. i know they are tired. i say this as ronnie looks at me, yawns and smiles.
oh and they are still getting up AT LEAST once a night.
oh and my stinking husband informed me today that he after this week, for the next 4 weeks he was going to be working on sunday..his only day off.
and our pipes froze on the kitchen sink, so no hot water to wash bottles..guess i have to use the bathroom sink
and the damn mouse is still alive..the SOB has started pooping next to the traps..to piss me off.
well, now they are screaming again..?
thanks for letting me vent ?

Re: im on the verge of a nervous breakdown
Oh Nora I'm sorry you are so stressed out!!! I get stressed out and I only have 1 to worry about.
ok a few things I thought of when I read this... at that age- 3 naps is not real normal. I get maybe 1.5 hour nap in the morning and a 35-40 minute nap in the later afternoon. What if you try to not put them down so early? No sense them fighting you and you getting stressed out if they aren't gonna go down anyway.
And if this makes you feel better- Charlie still gets up 2 times at night.
I'm so sorry that your dh has to work soo much!! That sucks!!! Do you have someone- a friend or a family member that can come over 1 night a week just to help out with dinner and play with the boys so you can take a bubble bath or fold a load of laundry?
Take your frustration out on that mouse!!! I fear for that mouse!!! :-)
btw- I noticed you weren't here and I have missed you something horrible.

i decided as i was rocking a screaming baby tonight that is what i am going to do..i am going to get through the weekend, and by then they should be totally over the cold..so he can't use that as an excuse..
they used to go to sleep sooooo well (with the bottle, not the best way), just not stay asleep. ?
the doc told me to wait and start sleep training at 8 months (now), since they were still dealing with such health issues, and he said they deserved a pass since they have been through so much...
i am going to call him on monday for sure ?

skimmy, i have missed you too!! i have seen your dirty polls and stuff, but don't get to see em until 1 am, when everybody is gone
?
i know the 3 nap thing should be phasing out..i am REALLY ready for it to be gone, since it was just another time when i had to struggle for a nap..
i usually have to get them down at least 3 hours after they wake up from their last nap..thats about when they start getting tired and cranky. and then days like today, when ronnie doesn't even really have the 2nd nap..i figured i might as well start the horrible process early..
and here4u..ugh, i wish sooooo much ronnie would fall asleep with me..last night falling asleep on the couch with me was a total fluke, and im pretty sure it was shear exhaustion and because he didn't think i was trying to get him to sleep. if i lay in the bed with him, he will just scream like every other way i try to get him to sleep
joey on the other hand is my cuddle bug, oh, and he was in the other room when ronnie woke him up..ronnie is just LOUD and our house is not big :P?

Nora ~ as you know I've missed you! I sent you 2 emails. I had a huge long book to write, so it was better in email than here haha!
I hope the boys get in to a normal routine for you soon!
I'm sorry you are having a rough time. I too would be down there in a heart beat if I could. Maybe Pamela and I could make a trip down...Skimmy you wanna come too?

wvagirl brings up a good point...are you near a good hospital system where you might be able to meet with a pediatric sleep specialist???? Ryan sometimes takes three short naps, sometimes one long, one short, and sometimes one long and two short. We find in the afternoon (around 4pm) he sometimes needs about 30 min. If that does not work, sometimes we put him in the bath since he likes that. Just hoping somethings works for you soon. The boys might deserve a break, but you deserve a break too
I feel your pain on the sleep issue sweetie (except that for yours is double)...I just posted something similar last night. And it just took me 2 hours to get DD asleep. I always start her out in her crib, but by 2AM or so, she ends up in bed with me. I also can't let her CIO...she goes from hysterical crying to holding her breath until she turns purple and nearly passes out and then choking.
I'm so sorry to hear that your DH has to work more...again, I can feel your pain as well. Mine works 50+ hours per week and travels twice a month, so it's me and DD alone a lot!
[[[HUGS]]] I hope you are able to find a better solution to the sleep issue.
omg nora.. that stinks. The only thought i had while reading this was to separate them too. Any chance you could put one in a pack n play in your room or somewhere?
All of these posts are scaring the $hit out of me. If these boys don't sleep through the night by 6-8 months, I am going to die!
Awww! I'm so sorry you had a rough day, I got here a little late! I hope this weekend goes well. Ella's been up like that lately too. She hasn't slept for more than 3 hours in a row for the past three days. We are taking her to the doctor tomorrow because all she does when she is up is scream and we don't know why.
The whole pipes freezing is awful! I don't know what I would do without a kitchen sink:(
