We just got back from the ENT and she said he definitely needs tubes, no question. He's had 4 infections (2 double) in 3 months. Both of his ears are still infected right now after being on antibiotics for a week. I am so relieved and looking forward to not having a sick baby all the time. I know he's going to feel so much better! Right now his appt is scheduled for next Monday, but I'm trying to get it moved to this Thursday.
Re: DS is getting tubes
The SAME thing happened to DD. The antibiotics didn't cure her ear infections so after 7 weeks she got tubes. She has had an ear infection since, but it drained and she didn't seem to be in pain.
I see you live in NC...are you having the surgery done at Brenner's Children's Hospital? That is where DD had hers put in and they were wonderful! Good luck!
DD -- 5YO
DS -- 3YO
DD had hers put in in August, best thing ever!! After constant fluid for 4 months and many trips to ER, I am relieved she is no longer in pain.
Except be prepared for DS reaction when he wakes from the surgery. It can be very scary to see your little one waking up. DD was crying hysterically and nothing would calm her; not me, her Daddy or her Grams. She didn't want me to hold her but she didnt want me to put her down either. She did this choky crying thing and keep grunting, bc of the breathing tube they insert. Just be prepared!! My neice has tubes 3 weeks before DD and that's the only reason I knew what to expect. I am glad I knew this ahead of time so I could be prepared for it and know that it was normal. Otherwise I would have been terrified!
