Suggestions for a vacation with an infant????

DH and I would like to go on a vacation.  We are trying to figure out where we would have the best time.  Aubreigh will be around 7-9 months when we go.

We are both not big beach fans, though i would consider an island in this cold weather.  We both also like cruises.

We really like Europe and seeing things.  It would be about a 9 hour flight for us. DD is very good so far.  We were even toying with the idea of a baltic cruise, but don't know how feasible it would be....part of me thinks it is even crazy to consider it (We went on a Mediterranean one for our honeymoon and it had a nice mix of relaxation and site seeing)

We are pretty laid back and know that traveling with an infant is stressful, but we also don't want to put life on hold.  I also could not leave her for a week, so she must come with us.

Thanks for any advice or words of wisdom.

  • A 9 hour flight is a pretty long time to ask a 7-9 month old to be confined, I think.  Is she a good sleeper?  Most flights to Europe are overnights, so if you're confident she'll be able to sleep most of the way, it might not be so bad.

Because of all the baby paraphernalia you'll be hauling, I wouldn't try a trip where you're switching hotels.  The cruise where you'll be in a cabin or a trip where you stay in one city and day trip out would probably be your best bet.

  • Disney World so I can meet Aubreigh!!   ;)

are you looking to relax or site see?  If you are looking to relax, why not just a nice hotel w a spa and pool?  If you want to site see, definitely a cruise, and, um one that leaves out of Ft. lauderdale or Miami so I can see you guys!  do you see a trend?

  • I have no personally experience but DH and I are thinking of doing a Disney Cruise with friends when the baby is around the same age.  I hear disney cruises are very family friendly.  They have quality babysitting if you want some alone time during the day.  We can also get cute pics of the baby with the disney characters without carting her around Disney when she is that little.
