Ohh, I can beat -29!!!

Yes that is right ladies, it was -37 below zero here last night... and that would be why all of our pipes were frozen this morning. That would also probably be why dh found our neighbors cat in our crawlspace this morning...dead. I am guessing the poor thing probably froze to death sometime over the last day or two. I am so heartbroken! If I had known the poor thing was left to be outside I would have brought her into my home in a heartbeat!!! Dh was soo upset when he found her and I spent a majority of the morning crying. I feel guilty. I can't believe people would leave their cat outside all the time and never let them into their home.. esp when it is -37 degrees w/o the windchill!!!

Anyways, I had to get that off my chest. I am very upset!!

    OMG that poor creature! I am a major animal lover so that just breaks my heart. Do you know exactly whose cat it was? Maybe the cat just got out, but damn...

    Nope, I know exactly who's cat it was and I know for a fact that they didn't really ever let her into the house. The poor thing basically lived outside. On occasion they would let her sleep in their garage, but come on!!!! I am so pissed. I hope I don't see any of them anytime soon bc I may not be able to bite my tongue!! I used to keep my cushions on my  outdoor furniture just for her, and I had a special spot for her to hide under our table on a cushion if it was raining. I just can't imagine....

    Yeah I'd be severely pissed too! You are such a kind person for doing those things for a pet that's not even yours!

    A few years ago, there was a stray cat that kept coming to our house. She ended up having kittens and we just decided to take care of her and her babies. Around 2:00 in the morning, my dad and DH heard a huge dog fight so they went to check it out. These two dogs that belonged to our neighbor across the street were let out and they were going after the kittens. My dad had to throw something at the dogs because they tried to attack him. We called the cops and they had to taze the dogs because they tried to attack them too. We realized that they had badly injured Momma Cat. We got the neighbors out and told them to controll their animals. Momma Cat ended up dying in our arms. It was so sad. I really irritates me when people don't take care of their animals.

    OMG that is awful.  I do take comfort in knowing someone was colder then us but not at those costs.  I let the dog out last night before we went to bed and she looked at me like, "I think I can hold it.  I don't need to go out in this weather."

    That poor cat! That is so horrible. Sad

    We were in the -20's for a couple weeks, then this week has been in the 50's..windy and ICY!! I can't even park in my driveway because my truck slides down into the road! Schools have even been closed the last 3 days beacause of the driving conditions! Ick.
