Which Wipe Warmer???

I got 2 wipe warmers at my baby shower (one I actually registered for). I am only considering the other one b/c it's pulg unplugs from the back so I can run it through a cord hole in the hutch (the one i registered for doesn't).

I know some people think of them unnecessary, but I want one :o)

Re: Which Wipe Warmer???

  • wipe warmers breed bacteria and are unncessary, IMO.

I would return both of them and get something else entirely. So ... I'm no help, sorry! Wink

  • I have no recommendation, but just wanted to say that as much as there are people who say you don't need them, my friend swears by it, so I guess it's just one of those things.

We don't really have a place for it with our changing table, but I would have considered getting one if not.

  • I would be one of the people that thinks they are useless (we didn't even use the premoistened wipes because they all irritate the baby's skin so bad) but after looking at the reviews I would say the lionheart one looks better. plus if it will work better with your hutch than I say go for that.

Ditto. I have heard they are completely unnecessary.

Spoken like someone who lives in Atlanta! :) In Minnesota, where the ACTUAL temperature is -22 today, it gets very cold even inside the house and I totally see the benefit of a wipe warmer.

  • Like pp said I would take both of them back and get other necessary items. They seem to be a huge waste of money.

  • It will also probably be easier to return the warmer you registered for, especially if you don't have a receipt.

  • neither.  IMO they are a waste.  They dry out the wipes.
  • I would return them both- what are you going to do when you are out in public and have to wipe your baby with a cold wipe?

  • After all my SIL's babies, I have learned that there are some things that I definitely won't get. One is a wipe warmer... when you are on the go, the wipes will be cold in your bag and if baby isn't used to that, then it will just make them upset. So, just regular "cold" wipes for me. Also, no bottle warmers for that same reason. If we decide to FF, the bottles will be room temp.. that way I can just keep a bottle with water in it to mix when we're on the go. It has worked for all six of my nieces and nephews so it will work for us too... and make things so much easier too.
  • we are not getting one.  mainly because I don't want him to get used to having warm wipes at home and then be shocked and upset when he gets cold ones elsewhere.  why torment the kid.

  • We used a wipe warmer at home (the prince lionheart one - it was fine) and my daughter never once freaked out over her wipes when out and about. Has anyone actually had that happen or is it just one of those rumors people like to pass around? The warm wipes were nice to have in the middle of the night when the cold wipe may have woken her up a little more than I wanted. Our house stays at about 58 degrees at night in the winter and trust me, those wipes are cooooold. Room temperature my ass. There's alcohol in them. They're cold.

  • i'm also in the waste of money camp when it comes to wipe warmers, but if you want one so be it.

one thing to consider is the safety of having something with a heating element in your hutch. especially with wipe warmers, i've read they are notorious for electrical malfunctions making them a fire hazard. i would probably not put one in the hutch regardless.
