Pregnant after a Loss

Barely going to see baby the month I return to work :(

It is bad enough I have had the baby blues lately about not getting to be there for all the big milestones since I have to go back to work; however, now I just got trial dates in a case for less than a month after I return which means I will go from maternity leave to 90 hour weeks for the month afterwards. The judge refused to give any extra time on this.  I am going to have to talk to the boss about maybe bringing the baby in a couple days a week for two hours because I am going to need to fill the void btw when my mother is done watching the baby and when H gets home (between 5 and 7 most likely).  I was really hoping to be able to ease into things slowly :(

  • Wow!  I'm sorry you have to do that.  Going from home with little one to 90 hours per week will be tough. ((Hugs))
  • So sorry Katie.  I hope your boss is understanding!  How long are you taking for maternity leave?

Only 8 weeks. That is all we really could afford to do, although I may take some more unpaid leave later in the summer as well.  I work ten minutes from home so hopefully she will be ok with me having the baby in here a little bit. I guess I will pray I have a happy baby who will be content hanging out.

  • Im sorry katie.  I hope you are able to bring HER (hhehe) to work with you for those couple hours so you can see HER more...
  • I'm sorry Katie. :(  Just take it one day at a time right now.
  • Yikes!  How long do you get to take off?  They are not cutting that short too are they?
  • Sucky! I hope your boss lets you work something out!

No because my doctor already said I will not go past my due date of March 8th I will be fine.  It is just going to make the first month really hard

  • Are the 90 hour weeks during trial, or during prep?

Is there any chance you could do some portion of the prep work at home?  Like put in your 8-10-12 (not sure what is normal for you) at the office and then work more once you get baby home from your mother's?

    DD1 is 3, DD2 is 1.

Not a whole lot of it can be done at home but yes I have remote access and will try to ddo what I can from the house.  Trial is the easy part. Prep is the 90 hour weeks. Last trial I had I worked from 9 am until midnight for three weeks straight including saturdays and sundays.  I think I am going to ask if we can bring in a law student to assist in trial prep this time around.  I scheduled a meeting with my boss for this afternoon to discuss it so hopefully we can figure out a compromise.

  • Will your doctor let you go back to work after 4 weeks?  Many won't sign off on your paperwork allowing you to work until after 6 weeks.

I say ask for as much help as you can get.  Good luck in your meeting today!

  • Oh that really stinks.  I have a friend that is a doctor.  It is just her and one other doctor (they had another one there but her retired).  Anyway, once she gets back from maternity leave, the other doctor will be going on a 2.5 week vacation... that means she has to take on her appts, his appts that need regular check-ups, and be on call 24/7.  The other doctor refuses to hire on another doctor or nurse practitioner to ease things up... he is the owner of the practice.  I feel so sorry for her.
  • Here is hoping that the case settles....Too bad I am not on your case because everytime I get close to trial, it settles...
