It is bad enough I have had the baby blues lately about not getting to be there for all the big milestones since I have to go back to work; however, now I just got trial dates in a case for less than a month after I return which means I will go from maternity leave to 90 hour weeks for the month afterwards. The judge refused to give any extra time on this. I am going to have to talk to the boss about maybe bringing the baby in a couple days a week for two hours because I am going to need to fill the void btw when my mother is done watching the baby and when H gets home (between 5 and 7 most likely). I was really hoping to be able to ease into things slowly
Re: Barely going to see baby the month I return to work :(
Only 8 weeks. That is all we really could afford to do, although I may take some more unpaid leave later in the summer as well. I work ten minutes from home so hopefully she will be ok with me having the baby in here a little bit. I guess I will pray I have a happy baby who will be content hanging out.
No because my doctor already said I will not go past my due date of March 8th I will be fine. It is just going to make the first month really hard
Are the 90 hour weeks during trial, or during prep?
Is there any chance you could do some portion of the prep work at home? Like put in your 8-10-12 (not sure what is normal for you) at the office and then work more once you get baby home from your mother's?
Not a whole lot of it can be done at home but yes I have remote access and will try to ddo what I can from the house. Trial is the easy part. Prep is the 90 hour weeks. Last trial I had I worked from 9 am until midnight for three weeks straight including saturdays and sundays. I think I am going to ask if we can bring in a law student to assist in trial prep this time around. I scheduled a meeting with my boss for this afternoon to discuss it so hopefully we can figure out a compromise.
Will your doctor let you go back to work after 4 weeks? Many won't sign off on your paperwork allowing you to work until after 6 weeks.
I say ask for as much help as you can get. Good luck in your meeting today!
