Oops....Not sure how to tell DH

So, we are pretty tight with money these days. However, I told DH last week that I NEEDED some new work clothes. I'm still 20 pounds over pp weight and I've been rotating between 2 or 3 pairs of slacks since I went back to work in August.
He "approved" my Ann Taylor purchase, but then I forgot I had a gift card to Victoria Secret. I went online and ended up spending that plus $50 more on a few new sweaters.
He sends me an email the next day saying "Hey -- did you charge something I'm not supposed to see last night?" His birthday is in a week....uh oh! He thinks I got some new lingerie!!!! Pffffft - yea, right!

Golden - His birthday is the 26th. I think I am going to get him some Under Armour sneakers (he loves UA, but they are waaaay more money than he's ever spend on shoes).
He's also been wanting to build a bar in our basement FOREVER, but other projects keep sidelining it. I was thinking about also getting him a book of bar plans and some IOUs for Sundays "Off Kid Duty" so he can get working on it!

I am just blanking on stuff! I know he needs new work clothes but hates to buy them but going to Brooks Brothers is just something our cash flow does not need at this moment. I want to do something special from the boys. Ok I really need to start thinking hard.
He threw me a surprise birthday this year (30th) right after the babies were born and did an awesome job...so I need to do something special.
Oh, no - I didn't even think about getting him something from the girls! Hmmmm.

I was about to say the same thing... they had some killer sales when I was there last night
LOL!!! Your DH & my DH must be from the same mold. I had a macy's gc for Xmas and REALLY needed new underwear so I used some of it for that. Apparently my idea of new undies (read: practical but not grandma-ish) and his idea of new undies (read: string up the butt) were not the same thing.
Good luck with the birthday ideas! I think your bar themed is a GREAT idea . .. maybe you could pick up a beer mug or two from the girls (or soemthing else bar themed).
