Success after IF

Did you have trouble getting your car seats inspected?

I've been working on this for a few weeks now.  I guess I waited too long and then the next time my hospital does it is 5 days before my c-section, so I was afraid I wouldn't make it.  I've left three messages for the appropriate department at our township police and they won't get back to me.  I called BRU and had to call back 4 times before I got someone who even knew what I was talking about (despite the section on their website dedicated to this).  They said they only do them in the warmer months.  Good thing babies don't get born or ride in cars in the winter...

I guess I may make it to the Feb. 1 inspection at the hospital after all.  Where did you get yours inspected and did you have trouble getting someone to do it?

Re: Did you have trouble getting your car seats inspected?

  • Yeah we installed ours the same weekend as you did - if I remember.

And we haven't gone in for an inspection - they make it kinda difficult in my state too.  They only do it at some places once a month, etc.

Ladies, don't wait to long to do this.  I think we will be fine as we live so close to the hospital and I won't be going on outings for awhile.

  • I had to make a lot of phone calls since people had left their jobs, but I ended up tracking down one person and having it installed at the police station.  I didn't have it inspected too though -- I haven't heard of that.  Good luck!

    Good luck

  • wow, no. I had no issues. I had it done at the local police station. have you considered going to the police station to talk to someone in person?

  • We took them to the nearest fire station.
  • My local police station has a certified inspector and he installed it too.

  • We thought we would have trouble b/c at the PD you had to leave a message, wait for a callback, and then they only do them once a month, but miraculously we ended up getting an appt this week. And it took like 10 minutes to do.

I tried BRU too and the response I got was "Oh no, we haven't done those for YEARS." Um, but it's on your website. "Oh yeah, that needs to be updated."

Have you tried police and fire stations in surrounding towns? Here they won't do it unless you reside in the town (due to budget cuts, they say), but maybe you would have some luck in your area.
