I am not far enough along yet to go to childbirth classes (I think) and am hoping they would touch on this during the class, but how long can I expect to stay in the hospital after a vaginal delivery with (hopefully) no complications? We are having a boy and I did not know if they keep you in there longer due to circumcision or what?
It looks like it might be dependent on our insurance but BCBS has nothing on their website that sheds any light on this?
Thanks
Re: St Lukes - LS - how long did you stay after delivery?
I didn't deliver at St Luke's LS, but when we toured their OP location, they said the norm for vaginal delivery is 48 hours. I delivered at OP Regional on Friday afternoon & we were discharged on Sunday afternoon. They just did the circumcision Sunday morning, and had to keep him in the nursery for a few hours afterwards to do periodic checks before they returned him to our room.
Re: classes- We took the childbirth/baby prep/CPR classes between 27-33 weeks, and I thought that was pretty good. Some of the other women in the day-long childbirth prep class were very close to their due date, and I think I would've been really uncomfortable sitting for that long when I was 36-37 weeks along. Just something to think about when you schedule yours!
Thanks so much for the info... I am a worrier and have been concerned that I was waiting too long to go to the classes or fearing that they would think I was crazy to go too early since I am only now starting to look like I am pregnant! I will definitely look at signing up sometime in late March/early April.
Thanks again...
