I'm going to try making the yogurt again

But, I'm going to do it during the day, because the first floor is getting below 55 at night.

I also got low fat yogurt instead of fat free.  Maybe that will make a difference?

It had better work, bacause I paid 3.50 for the tub of organic plain yogurt.  I wanted to be cheap, but it was the only low fat plain I could find.

  • I hope it turns out better! I'm making mine again tomorrow too since we ate the last batch up in 6 days :)

  • I'm going to try again this weekend, too.  The yogurt was fine last week when I made it, but I scorched the milk, and yogurt that tastes like scorched milk is nasty. Stick out tongue

  • Did you do the oven method or crockpot? In my failed yogurt post Brahim popped in and said that the milk does need to cool a bit before you add it to the yogurt base. Both me and Glad threw it in straight from the boiling point and I'm pretty sure that's what ruined mine. It did eventually thicken (after like 18 hours!) but not a ton and I had to strain it to get any sort of a yogurt consistency. I'm going to give it another whirl tomorrow night and see how it goes if I don't go spiking those little bacteria to death!

  • I went straight into the hot milk too.  I'm taking Brahim's advice & giving it another go with the oven.  We'll know by supper, I hope!
