Stay at Home Moms

*SLM05*

Hi there!  What grade do you teach?  How are you finding the balance of being a teacher and a mother to be?  I'm going to be returning to my classroom after a 17-month leave and am completely dreading it for a bunch of reasons, but one of the reasons being, I am so worried it's going to be hard to juggle the numerous responsibilities of the classroom along w/ the numerous responsibilities of being a mother.

Re: *SLM05*

  • Hi!  I am a kindergarten teacher.  The balance some days is tougher then others to juggle work and home.  Sometimes i feel like one gets the better part of me then the other.  My new thing is i try to get as much done at work and brign as little home as possible.  I also try to make my limited time each night with DD be special one on one time.  We read, play  and then normal bed, bath routine.  Some days is feels overwhelming but other days i think, wow! I really am not doing to bad.  Just try not to be too hard on yourself to be super teacher and super mom.  Once i let go a little it got better:) Good luck, let me know how it goes.

  • Let me also add that while i find it hard to leave DD at daycare, because i miss her she LOVES being with the other kids.   I ma having #2 and our "plan" is to try and have me stay home this next school year and then go back when the new baby is about 1 year. I too would like to be a SAHM not we have to do wat is best for our family situation. Good luck!
