I just wanted to wish you luck. It's not an easy decision for anyone and I hope it all goes well. Ditto Rachel in asking the LCs for all the help you can---just keep bugging them---that's what they are there for!!
I forget, do you have Kaiser? The LCs were wonderful to us and through our difficult attempts at BF'ing I found one I loved who we saw almost every week for awhile. The visits were free and, believe it or not, going to the LC was usually our best day. J always slept like a dream right afterwards and she was so nice and reassuring. Like pp said, get as much support as you can from everywhere you can. And, of course, we'll be rooting for you the whole time! Good luck, Amanda!!
GL! Be prepared to ask for help- and do it! Ask the LC's at the hospital, join a support group, etc. That's got to be scary and it is a huge decision. Surround yourself with supportive people. Oh, and feel free to let us know how its going.
GL, and like PP said ask the LCs they were WONDERFUL, and really lifesavers. They will sit and find out how to make it work for you and the baby. It is hard, but I am glad your giving it a try.
I think that's awesome that you want to try! Truth be told it was really hard for me in the beginning. REALLY hard. I don't say that to scare you but to have you know if you are feeling like it's hard or you don't know what to do I was there too. I think lots of us were. Ask for help, be ready to feel totally exposed with you boobs and stay positive. Come for advice here or LC when you need it. I'll cheer you on! I really never thought I'd make it 17 months! I can say I am looking forward to it this time and hope that I will feel better and we'll have an easier time getting started.
Good Luck, and don't worry about it too much. Ask the Nurses for advice, they will most likely all have different opinions, but it gives you a lot of different things to try,a dn to think about, and most likely/hopefully one of them will work for you!
Lactation consultants and support groups are what helped me - the first 2-3 weeks I had the LC on speed dial. I think its also helpful to really surround yourself with positive and supportive people.?
?
Thats great that you're going to try - its a big decision! Try not to be nervous about it. Who knows? It could end up working out just perfectly and it could be a breeze.. but even if it is not, you'll have an arsenal of help at your hands.?
Good luck! I think it is great that you're going to try again. Don't be scared! What is the worst that could happen? You end up formula feeding again? You'd be doing that anyway if you didn't give it a shot, so really you win either way
Please remember that the first two weeks are the absolute toughest if you are having problems. It gets better and easier- you just have to make it through all the initial pains and challenges!!
