They had to stick me FIVE times!

I went in around 1 for my 2nd beta and I was there for 2 hours!

Can I just say ouch?!?!

They couldn't find a vein and they were straight up digging for one. I've never had that happen before! They were going to give up but I wouldn't let them. I said, "Listen, I REALLY NEED to know these numbers!"

Then I said I had a nice big plump vein in my hand and told em to go for it. They said it would hurt but I said it wouldn't hurt as bad as having to wait until Monday for results!

So it's done now but my arm is hurting really bad and I look like I've been shooting up. Indifferent

    OMG OUCH!!! that completely sucks!! i'm sorry!

    next time, drink a whole bunch of water before hand.  it makes my veins big and plumpy. 

    I hope your arm heals quickly!

    LOL.....that is rough.  I always have to make sure I drink extra water, so I am not dehydrated.  They pretty much always have to do my hand!

    Ugh! I can feel your pain, literally. That happens to me every time. I used to always have to get it out of my hand which kills until hey finally found a good vein, but it's real deep. There's only one lab tech who can get it on the first try so i always make a point to see her. Hope if feels better soon!

    Yikes! That sounds like a nightmare! I'm sorry it was so awful.  I'm sure the pain will just melt away when you get your amazing results :)

    Ouch!!! I was cringing as I read that! I'm sorry HalsGal! The end result will all be worth it though. :) I'd say you're ready for childbirth!

    I have had similar situations with trying to find a vein and learned some tricks that might help for future BW.

    1.) Start drinking at least 64oz of water each day for 1-2 days prior to going in for BW.

    2.) The nurses have better luck also using a baby needle or butterfly needle.

     Good luck on your Beta numbers doubling!

    Ow! That does sound painful.  I hope they didn't stick the hand that you write with.
