SAHMs in cold weather areas...

Do you find yourself rarely going out with DS these days? It's not the cold weather that bothers me so much, it's the time it takes us to get bundled up to go out into it! DS is also not a fan of getting into his big boy carseat, so at most, I make 2 stops when we go out. I was going to go out today, but it was still flurrying a little when it would've been time for us to go and I didn't feel like cleaning off the car on top of everything else. And dealing with the stroller in the snow. I thought I'd have bad cabin fever and look for ways for us to get out everyday, but I'd rather stay home most days.

we're in Alaska (yes, it's warmer here right now than many other states..40F but normally in the teens) so we have to plan our outings well in advance, and warm up the car before bringing DD outside. We love library storytime each week bc it gets us out of the house, but is an indoor activity. We have to get out though, or we both get grumpy!

i feel the exact same way! too much effort- its easier being warm and cozy at home:)

Yes, we've been in all week and I am going crazy! We have an attached garage so I don't have to clean off the car or worry about that so I think we might go to the mall tomorrow. I could just park in the parking garage there and we will never really be out in the elements completely. We both need a change of scenery.

Yep, we stay in too unless it's absolutely necessary to go out. It seems that DS gets worse cabin fever than me. I think he'd really like a change of scenery and people other than me to interact with.

The boys haven't left this house in 5 days!!! I'm usually pretty mobile w/ them but in these temps, I can't even have them outside for more than a couple minutes- we don't have an attached garage and I'm not comfortable running my van outside (perfect for car theives, this weather).

I finally called my retired neighbors yesterday to see if they could stop by and play w/ the boys. The boys and I just needed fresh faces .

Tomorrow we have a dr appt so we'll see how that goes...

Yup! Yesterday I wouldn't even go out and get my morning coffee... brewed a pot at home *gasp* instead.

If I can avoid it, I will. She HATES the cold.

I don't SAH all the time, but I have a flexible work schedule. I take DD out in the Ergo, with a "peekaroo" over both of us. It seems to keep her pretty warm.
