I was talking to one of my coworkers the other day about diapers. I would like to CD, but my DH is not on board with it and I don't know that it would be something I could stick with even if he was.
However, my coworker mentioned gdiapers (www.gdiapers.com). I checked out the website and they have intrigued me. But I've never heard anyone on here talking about them, so I'm wondering if maybe they're not as eco-friendly and cool as they sound. We also have a septic system instead of normal city sewage, so we'd probably have to toss/compost the refills, but it sounds like it's still better than regular diapers.
So input, thoughts, opinions??
Re: Diapers
From all I've heard, gdiapers aren't that much less work
than CDing, and they don't save the money that CDs do.
Which is to say, go all out fluffy bums
Also, post on the EcoFriendly Family board, I'm sure they
can give you more info!

Thanks for the input guys. I'm just starting to research everything, so many things to think about. But in addition to the "green-ness" of the CD's, I love how cute they are, so I like that the gdiapers are also adorable.
We might be able to help get your DH on board w/ CD options if you know why he is anti... there are so many options now, you can get CDs that work *exactly* like disposables - you just have to wash them every few days.
Let us know if you want add'l info on types of CDs and the pros/cons of each.

They are less work just because you don't have to wash as much - and when you do wash the covers, you don't have to worry about soap residue and such. Since the actual "work" of the cover is done by a plastic snap in liner, you don't have to worry about repellent issues or stink like you do with cloth. (Although, you don't have to worry about those things with cloth diaper covers either since all they do is contain the mess, the maintenance of CDs is in the absorbency part of the diaper.)
Which is very, very true since only the cover of the gDiaper is reusable.
If you are looking for a good compromise, just scrape and flush the solid poo you get out of a 7th Generation diaper. Waste goes into the sewage system where it belongs and you are using a more eco friendly diaper as well.
