I didn’t have super thick hair prior to pregnancy and know that my 4 mths PP the hair loss is awful. I feel like I am constantly pulling hair out everytime I run my fingers through my hair, brush my hair, shower, etc. Does anyone have any tips on how to combat this? I’m taking prenatals still but all this hair loss is not helping my mental.
Re: PP Hair Loss
That timing is actually when shedding usually peaks because of the hormone shift, even though it feels scary. What helped me was being really gentle with my hair, avoiding tight styles, and not over-brushing. I also focused on eating well and staying consistent with my vitamins.
I added a postpartum hair support vitamin during that phase too, I tried the ones from the brand called Baby Blues postpartum hair loss vitamins and honestly over time I did notice less shedding and little regrowth coming in. It wasn’t instant, but it helped alongside just giving it time.
It does slow down, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now 🤍
I feel you — the 3–4 month PP shedding hit me hard too. It looks scary, but it’s really common and usually temporary. What helped me was being super gentle (wide-tooth comb, less heat styling), keeping up with prenatals, and making sure I was eating enough protein. I also found some nice hair care products through fabfitfun that focused on strengthening and scalp care, which made my hair feel a bit healthier even if it didn’t stop the shedding overnight.
