Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: butternut squash

Upcoming appointments: growth scan and OB appt in 3 days

How are you feeling?: good, just tired

Rants/Raves: Rave-I passed my 3 hour glucose test with flying colors. My levels never got above 132 even with the drink being twice as strong. I was shocked when I failed my 1 hour test…I really think I accidentally did things that made me fail unnecessarily. I don’t have a rant, so I’ll do another rave lol I had my baby shower last weekend, and it was lovely! I never had one with my first, so I’m glad I got to experience it this time around.

    Questions: none

GTKY: Do you like to garden? Or grow houseplants? I do like to garden and grow house plants. I don’t have much time for it these days, but it brings me joy :)

Upcoming appointments: Every God damned day while I'm in hospital.

How are you feeling?: Pretty good considering I'm stuck.

    Rants/Raves: None.

    Questions: None.

GTKY: Do you like to garden? Or grow houseplants? I have a small green thumb but generally can't keep plants alive.

  • @travellingjess Sorry you're still stuck! Are they going to let you have a day pass for your other kiddo's birthday?

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 33 weeks

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: As heavy as 10 rolls of nickels. Why are bump facts so weird lol

Upcoming appointments: 2 weeks out, just had 2 appts this week. Had another ultrasound which was nice to see.

How are you feeling?: Tired! Starting to feel very ungainly and heavy. Otherwise pretty good.

Rants/Raves: Rant: work has been stressful and I've been making some dumb pregnancy brain mistakes. Def looking forward to wrapping up a couple projects in the next couple weeks and prepping to go on maternity leave. Rave: It's really fun listening to my 3 yr old's musings about the baby. He tells me things he thinks the baby will eat, or tells me what he thinks it's doing when he feels it moving. It's generally very cute and funny.

Questions: Anyone planning to join an IRL baby group? I didn't with my first but I'm really pining for a better sense of community this time around.

GTKY: Do you like to garden? Or grow houseplants?
I love gardening but I have a lot of trouble keeping houseplants alive. This question was on my mind because spring is coming and I'm looking forward to poking around in the dirt again. I have a very tiny plot at our townhouse but it's chock full of fun natives. Going to experiment with at least one new plant this year.
  • @ferret22 Half day pass secured. Of course I had spontaneous bleeding today but if my early am nst is fine then I'm good to go!

I'm probably not joining an irl mom group. I generally meet lots of moms at library baby times and other baby events. I'm a little social butterfly.
  • @AarynL did you eat something when you were supposed to fast? Apparently there's a bunch of different ways they do the glucose test. Why it's not the same across the board I will never understand!

And maybe an unpopular opinion, but the glucose drink does not taste as awful as everyone makes it out to be. I've always had the orange drink and it just tastes like a flat orange soda 🤷‍♀️

@travellingjess woohoo for getting your day pass to go home to celebrate your son's birthday!

@ferret22 my son keeps saying he has a baby sister in his belly while I have his baby brother in my belly 😆. One of the baby facts I had the other day was that baby was as long as a pickleball paddle. As if I could picture that in any capacity since the only time I've ever played pickleball was way back in high school!

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: May 11 / 32 weeks today!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of:
He's as tall as 3 Expo markers stacked

Upcoming appointments: growth scan on Friday. Can't wait to see him again and see his movements on the screen. Sometimes it feels like he stretches out like a starfish reaching my hip creases and obliques 🥴. I love all his crazy movements though. He'll keep up well with our other very active boys haha.

How are you feeling?: good! I didn't wear my belly band for most of one day when I worked from home and felt like I was dying. My pelvic girdle pain is way worse than the first time around (typical with subsequent pregnancies of course). It was a bit better the following day plus I did some hip opener stretches and that really got me back to a minimal pain level

Rants/Raves: the weather is cold again 🙄. Also a neighbor came by on Friday when our power was out (due to high winds) to tell us we need to get a generator on our sump pump because we live near a flood plane. We check it even though we're like, why would it flood if it's not raining? Sure enough it's a few inches from overflowing so we scrambled to manually scoop water out and dump it outside. Ah the joys of homeownership 🫠

Questions: for the STM/STM+ moms, are you having your older kiddos meet baby at the hospital or will you wait until you get home?

GTKY: Do you like to garden? Or grow houseplants?
No because I suck at it 😂. I over watered an aloe plant many years ago giving it root rot.

@inthewoods23 so a couple things. 1. I tested when I was sick, and I’ve since learned glucose levels are naturally higher when sick. 2. Because I was sick, I wasn’t eating my normal diet on the days leading up to the test. I was pretty much just eating meat and vegetables (so no carbs/sugar). Going an extended period of time without carbs and sugar made my glucose levels spike when it was finally introduced to my body again via the glucose drink.
I wasn’t told to fast for the 1 hour glucose test, but I did (only because I did it at like 7am though). I didn’t fail by that much, my levels were 143. And I agree with what you said about the drinks not being bad! I’ve had the orange and clear/lemon-lime.

I haven’t decided yet about how to go about introducing our toddler and new baby. I feel like there’s a lot of pros to having them meet a home. Or if they meet at the hospital, I want my husband to go get our toddler right before we’re discharged from the hospital so we can all go home together. I don’t want my toddler to just come visit. He won’t understand why he can’t stay with us, and he’s really attached to me.

@ferret22 I joined an irl mom group after having my first since we were new to FL and didn’t have any parent friends here yet. I’m really glad I did as it turned out to be a great way to meet people and attend fun events.

Also, I had a growth scan today at 30+1. She’s still breech which I know isn’t a cause for concern yet, but I can’t help feeling anxious about it. My son was head down by 28 weeks, if not sooner. Does anyone know when their baby flipped to head down? Is there any harm in encouraging her to flip like with cold packs or doing the forward leaning inversions?
  • @AarynL for both of my pregnancies, they've been head down by the anatomy scan so I'm not the best person to give advice here.... But I talked to my OB a little about this at my last appointment and I think she said you can try the spinning baby techniques at this point but there's plenty of time for them to flip themselves so you probably don't need to try them for a few weeks. If I recall with my friend's last pregnancy, she was having irregular contractions for days and so was going in for monitoring and in the span of a few hours her baby went from head down to breech. Like they just flip when they wanna flip 🤷‍♀️

I love your idea to bring my toddler to the hospital right before discharge. That way when my parents or BF bring him (assuming it's one of my placement days vs my ex's 🤞) they can phrase it as him going to the hospital to help bring mommy and his baby brother home.

Speaking of toddlers... If he wants to be affectionate with kisses, is the best place for him to do it be on his head?

@AarynL How did you find the mom group? I'm guessing I probably finally need to get a Facebook lol. My first was breech almost to the end. I did spinning babies techniques and was worried about it but he flipped in time all on his own. He was very active and wiggly the whole pregnancy and I feel like he probably flipped back and forth a few times without us seeing it. It sure felt like he was doing flips the whole last trimester! 😂

I'm going to have mine (3y) visit at the hospital. I've been prepping him by telling stories and showing him pictures from when he was born. He's unfortunately familiar with the hospital since he had a four day stay there last year and he understands that they'll be helping the baby "escape" as he calls it.

  • @AarynL Since my son is so used to coming to the hospital to visit me we will be introducing him to her here so long as she isn't in the NICU.

My son was breech until almost the very end (they were referring me to and OB for possible ecv) until he turned at 36 weeks himself. You've got time. I'm currently 33+3 with baby girl and she is definitely not one to stay put and just swims in circles all the time. She's no where near engaging into my pelvis but maybe that's cause of lots of bed rest (aside from laps around the ward or down to the cafeteria). If we make it to 35 weeks I'll start worrying then and doing spinning babies since we are delivering one way or the other at 37 weeks. Head down will just give me a higher chance of being able to have vbac like I want.

@ferret22 I met up with a local mom from an app called Peanut (it’s like tinder for finding mom friends), and she told me about the mom group. I then joined the group on Facebook and Instagram and started attending some of the monthly events. My group does about 4 events/month that consist of both family events and mother’s only events.

My toddler won’t even be 2 yet when his sister is born, and I don’t feel like I’ve been able to prepare him well enough. I talk about baby sister and he points to my belly, but he doesn’t know what it actually means. I think introducing them will go fine, but I’m kind of worried about how he’s going to adjust once we’re all home.

And thanks for the words of encouragement! I’ll try not to stress about baby flipping in time. I started walking again after about a 2 week break, so maybe that’ll help🤞
  • @AarynL Here's a reddit thread with the down low on spinning babies iff you want to try it a little later on.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/pregnant/comments/1ke7c1u/can_anyone_give_me_the_spinning_babies_spark/

I think baby girl is mostly head down or oblique (head in my hip) now so at least is headed in the right direction at 33+5.
