Birth Announcements and Stories

We are so close! Feel free to share your birth announcements and stories here with as much or as little detail as you’d like. It was so fun and helpful to read the birth stories in my last group. Hoping everyone has a very smooth delivery and recovery. 👶

Well I had to delete the app to make space. Update: My baby was born mid January. SHE, yes SHE was breech and we had to have a cesection. Every US and every blood test done was wrong. I have a girl. What a surprise that was! Hope you are all doing well and had great deliveries!!! 💛

Hi all. I've finally found some time to describe my birth story and to announce the arrival of Felix.

My parents flew in to help us with our toddler. I was scheduled to be induced on Wednesday, Jan 7. However, they kept pushing it back, and my parents were set to leave Saturday morning. I was so frustrated and terrified that they flew in for nothing because they wouldn't be there to help or get to see the baby. I knew other unscheduled deliveries were happening and took priority. But I'm a planner, and things were not going according to plan!

I was able to go in for my induction on January 9, and my parents switched their flight so that they could stay a couple days longer. My induction lasted 12 hours. We started the Foley balloon around 8:30am and pitocin at 10:15am. My husband and I ordered breakfast, I drew some lunch notes for my toddler, and we walked laps around the birth center. One nurse actually came up to me and said, "Walking on pitocin! Impressive." Haha. I don't know if that is actually impressive, but it made me feel better. At that point, they had already bumped my pitocin up to a 6.

I was 4-5cm dilated and contractions were getting stronger, so I asked for an epidural. I went into this delivery knowing I'd get the epidural. With my last induction, I went 12.5 hours without pain medication before the pain became unmanageable. I actually think my last induction lasted longer because I was so tense and stressed. I think I timed it really well this time as I was able to walk around for a while and got the epidural before it became too painful. However, it took them a few tries to place the epidural properly and the epidural caused my blood pressure to drop into the low 70s causing me to almost pass out. The baby's heart rate never dropped, and they gave me meds to increase my blood pressure.

They broke my water around 8pm, and I delivered Felix Ward at 8:34pm. He was 7lb 9.4oz and 21 inches long.

I did suffer a third degree tear, and recovery was rough for a few weeks. But we are all happy and healthy.
