Hi Ladies,
So a little bit of an update from me. My water broke with lots of blood before dinner on Monday after I took the world's most massive poop. I was 29+1.
I came immediately to hospital which I'm glad is only a ten min drive away. I was on a NST for about four hours to monitor baby in L&D and started on steroids to mature baby's lungs and antibiotics to prevent infection in case I went into labour.
Thankfully that has not happened, but I'm still in hospital for monitoring. I had an ultrasound and my cervix is closed, also thankfully, so hoping baby girl cooks a while longer.
Really wanting to go home but also feel comfortable with the monitoring I am getting here. I saw the antenatal care team who would follow me as an outpatient three times a week if I get discharged and in order to go home I need to be off iv antibiotics and have baby facing either head down or butt down (to make sure no risk of cord prolapse).
This has made not showing up for work interesting but I've got lots of sick time and my only job is to chill and not stress.
Appreciate all the kind thoughts that I know you'll throw my way!
One day at a time. One day at a time.
Re: Update (from hospital)
We are both still here in hospital and taking it one day at a time. I don't know if I want to go home with a rambunctious almost three year old always prone to jump on my belly, but can't stay here forever. My back hurts mostly from being in bed most of the time. I think I took like 440 steps today.
The good thing is my son seemingly puts himself to sleep for dad now??? Small miracles!
I've been on Laxaday ever day since I've been here and it's been a great help.
Will get assessed tomorrow to see if I can go home if baby isn't transverse. Which she loves to be.
At this point I'm OK in the hospital and would prefer it rather than go home and get readmitted after two days when they see she isn't in ideal position again.
If the private beside me opens up I'll move into that (currently have a roommate who likes to talk) but won't take one if it doesn't have a window (I can't live in the dark for another 2 months if I make it to term).
So far so good though! I was nervous when the neonatologist said that they typically see delivery within two weeks but I'm still here and it's almost two weeks later. I do miss home comforts though. Massively.

I got to go home last weekend and pack my own bag properly which was great. Our hospitals in Canada are pretty basic. I'm in a shared room with another antepartum mom (she has HG). I have a great big window with light so I'm fine sharing for now. I can move to a private (covered by insurance) but it's pretty dark. If the next person I share with snores I may move though. I value what little sleep I get. Thankfully the beds in postpartum are much more comfortable than in L&D, for obvious reasons, and so the back pain is gone but all the other pregnancy pains are here to stay. I've got awesome nurses and got a day pass last week and can walk around the hospital or unit whenever I want so that's awesome.
So far so good! Hoping to get my next day pass next weekend for my son's 3rd birthday.
