HCG levels?

Hi 🤍
I’m needing some sort of reassurance or realism that will get me through the next 16 hours.

Long story long -
The first day of my last period was 11/11 and was verified solely via urine sample on 12/19 that I was pregnant. I was told to anticipate I was 5 weeks at that point.

On 12/29, I had very minor spotting. On Thursday morning, I spotted very little again. On Friday, I had the same spotting - very light in amount but dark colored. I decided to go to the ER and they did my first ultrasound and was told the baby is 4mm long and I’m measuring at 6 weeks with no heartbeat found. I have three friends who had successful pregnancies who have also shared there was no heartbeat at 6 weeks. They also checked my hcg levels (for the first time) this Saturday when I went to the ER. My levels are at 3917, apparently within realm of 6 weeks. I was asked to come back tomorrow (1/18) at 9am to get them checked again to see if my levels are rising.

It’s Saturday, and I bled again this morning and it was the slightest bit lighter and much more. The three times prior, it was very minor - though today’s was enough to fill a good portion of my toilet paper. I don’t believe I’m experiencing any cramping. I don’t have any body aches. I go back to the ER tomorrow for another blood draw to check my hcg levels and am apparently hoping for a 124% rise.

Some of my questions -
- What were your levels at 6 weeks?
- Did you get verified via a urine sample and was told to anticipate your due date by the first day of your last period, but it was weeks off?
- If you’ve miscarried (and I’m very sorry if so), what was your spotting/ bleeding like?

Thank you so much for taking time to read this, and responding if you end up having the time and do so! 🫶🏻

Re: HCG levels?

  • I have miscarried and sorry to say it was sort of as you described. I had a very small amount of bleeding at 11 weeks, enough to see just when I wiped after using the bathroom. I went to the ER where they found no heartbeat. They also said that by their measurements the baby had stopped growing at 9 weeks. The ultrasound really kicked everything into gear and by the day after my ER visit, I was in full miscarry mode.
Hopefully all is well for you, though.

  • I'm so sorry you're experiencing this, my first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage and it was a lot like this... I started spotting around 7 weeks, then it went away for a week, but came back at 9 weeks heavier, my hcg levels were checked and they were dropping. I didn’t want to go to the ER, so I miscarried at home at the end of that week. First ultrasound was to check that I passed everything after, so no idea if there was ever a heartbeat. Again, sorry you're going through this, it's so stressful.

I’m sorry for the stress you are going through. I think every body is different and it’s hard to say what happens to me or these past posts could be you. I had very very heavy bleeding in week 7 and miscarried. I had strong period like cramps and it was a super anxiety provoking time. I did end up being able to get pregnant a few months later, spotted a little bit around week 9 and it went away and I had my rainbow baby in December of last year. Meanwhile, a friend of mine spotted at 6 weeks and then again at 8. She got her ultrasound and everything was fine.

It’s really hard to tell, and everyone’s experience is different. I’m really hoping for the best for you! Sending positive thoughts to you.
