3rd Trimester

6 dental cavities in 3rd trimester

Dentist wants to wait until after delivery to fix the teeth but acknowledges that some may become root canals in the process. Has anyone else successfully gotten fillings done during 3rd trimester? Is it safe?

I went through something similar and totally understand the worry. Many women do safely get fillings done in the third trimester, especially if it’s causing pain or could get worse, but some dentists prefer to wait unless it’s urgent. Local anesthetic without epinephrine is often considered safe, and they usually position you carefully so you’re comfortable. I’d consider getting a second opinion if you’re unsure. In the meantime, keeping up with gentle oral care helped me a lot — I even used things like Smileactives to stay on top of sensitivity and hygiene while waiting.
