Can't get ahold of my OB

Has anyone else experienced this? After my pregnancy was confirmed and blood was drawn, I can't get ahold of my OB (I haven't even been told their name) or my OB nurse. I don't have problems (except for my migraines, but my husband did research and found me some magnesium solutions), but I do have questions. When I call the office they don't pick up, and they'll leave early morning messages saying they can't give me any info until my OB meets with me in a month. I'm 7 weeks along. This doesn't seem normal to me, and I'm worried about a FTM pregnancy journey with no contact OB. I asked to switch to a more available OB and the office completely ignored it.

    Some practices don’t schedule appointments or do much until close to 10-12 weeks — there is very little they can do practically in the early weeks besides sometimes an early ultrasound, but even that is really just to confirm whether or not you have multiples. I would assume they will be more on top of it once you have had your first appointment. Until then there are lots of online resources, and you could potentially reach out to a pregnancy doula or teledoc OB, who can answer questions but would be less hands-on.

    This is a very strange way to treat a patient, I wouldn’t stay in a place like that for even one more minute. And what if you have an emergency situation. what happens then? My wife and I once spent a lot of time searching for a clinic we were both happy with (honestly, it was a tough quest, she’s a Virgo if you know what I mean :D ). If the location works for you, I genuinely recommend checking out Cohen Medical Practice - they have several very convenient locations across NY.

    What they are telling you is truth.  They can not give you any medical advice until you are physically seen in the office. You need to beco.e an established patient.  You had the initial confirmation now you go to your 1st appointment around 12 weeks.  Be thankful there is no reason go need to be there sooner.
